Useful

A very decent flash that sheds some light on the big secret "how to put medals in a game", nice work on that feature.

But there are still some options missing. I think an option to turn off the music would be very nice, as it gets pretty annoying when I read through the "more infos" section as it continues to play over and over again.
More songs to chose from would also be nice.

Also I think you should have used a different font. The current font is sometimes very hard to read (especially the 'v' looks very weird).

Finally, I think you have to improve your english skills a bit. I know, this is easier said than done and I don't want to sound "rude" here. Enligsh is a foreign language for me as well, so I know it can be a very tough language to learn from time to time. But I think BECAUSE english isn't my native language I had more trouble to understand what you wanted to express than a native speaker.

Scene creator

Seems like Metal Slug scene creators are a very common thing flash artists come up with these days.

I like the selection of sprites I can chose from, but there could still be some more. For example there are no mummies (my favorite opponents in the Metal Slug games).
But on the other hand you still managed to get a decent amount of sprites into this flash without the game beginning to lag badly.

There could also be more backgrounds. Right now there are only 4 small backgrounds to chose from, which really limits the replay value a lot. There are only so many scenes you can put into one background before it becomes boring.

A good addition would be some sort of "movie maker", even though this would be very hard to program, I guess. What I mean by "movie maker" is that I can "direct" the sprites where to go and what they should do there and when I hit the "play" button, the scene would begin and I could watch the scene I just created.
But as I've said, this is propably too hard to program.

Good tutorial

This is a nicely written tutorial and I'm sure it can help out a lot of flash artists out there.

For example the tutorials about buttons you gave: The same thing you speak of in this tutorial is what annoys me for quite some time now. Only the small text is clickable, but not the spaces in between the letters. It is easy to avoid (as shown in this tutorial) but yet many beginners do it wrong.

I also like the style you write in. You just want to help avoiding a few mistakes so you explain in a very friendly way (with lots of pictures for guidance) how certain things can be done better.
When you write in the style you did the people who use this tutorial may actually listen to you as you don't sound rude or like "I know it better than you, so shut up!". Instead you just sound like the friendly guy who wants to help out.

Anyway, I think an option to turn off the music would be nice to have. You could easily add that to the main menue as there still is some space left. The music you chose sounds nice and fits to the tutorial, but every song gets annoying if you have to listen to it over and over again.

Good game

A pretty nice approach on the genre of "avoidance" games. I like the different "bubbles" we have to avoid. The green ones flying across the screen from left to right, the red ones move from top to bottom and then we have other "bubbles" that stay on the screen and move around.

It gets very challenging, but it gets a bit easier because you chose different colours for different moving bubbles.

The musical selection is good as well and it's nice that we can chose from 4 options (off, and three songs) so everyone should find an option that suits him.

A few introductions would've been nice, though. Maybe a small menue where you explain the movements of the different bubbles as well as the bonus bubbles we may encounter while we are playing (for example I once hit a golden bubble and my score was reset to 0... >_> ).

Thanks for the suggestions and review man.

Great game

Again a very nice submission. I don't get why it didn't do so great like the prequel to this game. Well, at least you've won UOTW, so congrats for that.

The video sequences are again very nice and quite funny (especially the sequence where we have to guide Fro and Nick through the corridor). I also liked you included the stuff we picked up in the first game into this game as well.

It would be nice if you could change the last "press up key" to "press left key" though. I got it wrong the first time even though I read the author comments before I played the game... -.-

I hope we can see a sequel to this series some time in the future. :)

Fro responds:

Yeah, like I said down below, even if we do change it then it takes months for admins to approve it. :P

A sequel will be in hand here sometime this summer.

Hmmm

To be honest, I didn't play this game for too long. I couldn't even sit through the introductory part. Graphics here where already horrible and so was the sound.

A pink background and on top of that pink text that is even all over the place? Seriously, if you add text to this, put it in subtitles at the bottom of the screen. Use text boxes with a white background and black text.

The voice was way too muffled and it was very hard to understand...

I thought: If the introduction is already this bad, the game that should follow can't be any better, so I closed the flash again.

Good game

This kind of genre offers some very good games and this is one of it. I really like that you added different characters to the game which all offer some unique skills (or more like: All of them have a different maximum in the stats).

It's also nice that you added a shop where we can buy some things that help us to hit the geek even farther.

The music and the sound effects are nice, but they get annoying after some time, so it's a good thing you put in an option to turn down the volume of the music and the sounds, so I can listen to my own music while playing this game.

I found no bugs while playing this game, so I guess you have done a good job testing this game before releasing it.

Nice work!

Simple concept, but works well

Those kind of games have a very simple concept. But it's enough to keep the player interested for quite some time.

The difficulty increases very suddendly. At first only the grandma is there, which is easy. But once granpa comes into the game it gets too difficult too soon, I think.
Sometimes it's just impossible (or at least I found it impossible) to rescue all of the characters currently on screen so the game was over very quickly for me.

Maybe if you could alter the rate at which the difficulty increases a bit it wouldn't become too difficult all of a sudden.

The music you chose was pretty nice and it fits quite well to the comical look of the game but it got a bit annoying after a while. A mute button would be a very nice thing to have and/or maybe some more tracks to choose from.

yeah tweaking the difficulty was the..most difficult part of this, and it's still not quite right!
Because the timing is slightly off there is a near ni impossible situation every 45-50 points or so! (Whoopsies).

I'll definitely be adding more variety of music/muting in my next projects!

Cheers, J

Good game

Hey, this is actually a very good game. I really like the video scenes you threw in there, they are funny and help to advance the story a bit further.

I also thought it was funny when Nick found the fire extinguisher and then we could see him with all the stuff he picked up earlier, that was a good joke.

The rest of the game was indeed very straightforward, and I think you could've made it a bit more difficult.

But the game offers a lot of genres and the video sequences are funny, so I guess it's okay that the game elements aren't too hard here.

However, the music didn't loop too well, especially in the car game. So you should try to find a better loop for the games. :P

Fro responds:

Yeah, I tried to make the song loop better, but it wasn't originally a loop so it was hard. We will reuse the room song, but other than that I think Nick and I will create the rest.

Simple yet addictive

I don't know what it is, but this game is highly addictive. Maybe it's because it's so hypnotic. ^^

Anyway, the gameplay is really simple, but somehow it's a lot of fun to play this game. All the distractions work really well while you are trying to focus on the spiral, which is indeed really hard to focus on.

However, I think you should do more with the game. It seems to be the same over and over again, while only the speed increases. I think you should give different paths that the player has to follow, as well as more and more distractions with every level, so that it becomes a real challenge to play this game.
