Interesting program

This is a very interesting program. There's still a lot of room for improvement, but the basics are already there. The random button is a very nice implementation. It's nice to just press it and listen to what ever comes up.

It would be nice if you could implement some more things, but I don't know if it is possible to do so. My suggestions:
- Being able to insert a minimum length of a song, so that spammy submissions that are only a few seconds long wouldn't be selected if you press the random button.
- It would also be nice if now only the ID of the song but also the name would be shown in this program.

While I think those two aren't that hard to implement this suggestion could be prove to be impossible to implement:
- Selecting different genres and the random songs would be from the selected genres.

Nice yu liked the gadget. Yeah, is interesting see what songs comes up when you press to randomize.

For the spammy submissions lenght, I think it wouldn't be necessary, may have some loops that are cool to keep listening them, version 2 that is going to be released soon presents a loop function, so is better to listen to loops :)!

For show the name or genre, it is technically impossible (as you thought), they are registered on a different server which I can't get from, I could use string commands to get them but I think it would be necessary or AS3 or HTML.

This is possible to perform but I think only with HTML too, PoderOdunk on Newgrounds Chat managed to do this but he describes on the author's comments a lot from HTML to do that gadget.

Thanks for the nice review! See you around!

Nice

I like the concept of this game. I think you brought something new to the genre of "shoot em ups" here. It's pretty cool to read the comments and blast them away by shooting up all the persons who liked said comment.

I don't know if this concept is enough to keep players motivated for a longer period of time, though. Even though you have some pretty cool power ups there it all gets a bit repetitive quite soon.

Good game

I have to be honest here, I didn't play this game for too long. But don't get me wrong, it's not because I think it's a bad game. I just don't have the time to play it all the way through. I still think I played it long enough to give you a short review.

Graphics:
I'm a huge fan of retro games (especially retro RPGs) so I really like those 8bit-like graphics. I also like the colours you chose, they fit very well together and you also managed to create a very dense feeling in the caves.
I also liked the "line of sight" effect. This amplifies the atmosphere you managed to create with the colouring. Parts hidden behind a wall stay hidden until I walk around this wall. This keeps the tension on a very high level.

Controls:
Nice and easy, but I had some issues with the controls while playing. Maybe it's because I'm on Ubuntu right now, but anyway: When I continued walking in one direction for some time, the character seemed to be "stuck" and moved very slowly, twitching around like mad. This even happened when I sure didn't hit any obstacles and in all directions I walked.
Sometimes it happened on the very first step, sometimes I was able to walk for quite some time until this bug happened to me. And this bug is the second reason I didn't play this game for too long.
But apart from that the controls seem to work fine.

Music:
Well, I didn't manage to get out of the cave yet, but the music I could hear there was pretty good and fitted nicely to the whole "dungeon theme".

Overall:
I think this game has potential. I like Coop's suggestion to try and add medals to it. This would give the game much more exposure and I think this game deserves to get it.

Simple game

A very simple and not too challenging game. Also it's not very motivating to only press one button and to see the guy jumping all the time.

Okay, you said it was only a test to see if you could create such a game. Well, it seems you can do it, so I guess you should take it a few steps further now and create a game that is more complex than this one, heh.
I liked how you prevented cheating here. "Down and Up" doesn't work and just holding the Up button doesn't work as well.

What I didn't like was the graphics. The rope does look a bit strange. Why does it have such a weird shape?
The rest of the graphics are way too simple as well.

So, in conclusion you have a small game where you could test your skills with action script. My advice is - like I said - take it a few steps further now and create more complex games.

thanks, the rope is just a shape tween!

Great flash!

This is a very nice flash. The music fits really great to the whole topic of the "Universe" as it is very laid back and relaxing. It puts me in the right mood to read all the text you put together here and to do some exploring.

I like that you also put in some things outside of our galaxy like VY Canis Majoris. It's so huge it's hard to imagine such a star can even exist. Imagine for example if our earth was so big. How would living on such a huge planet be? I mean, it would be impossible with our current technology to even really explore the planet. The internet wouldn't be possible, because it would take YEARS (maybe even millions of years?) for a signal to travel all the way to some far away continent and come back.

But I'm getting off topic here (you really hit a nerve with this flash, I like go rambling on about the universe ^^). I really hope you'll expand this flash a bit more or release some more parts of it. There's so much to tell about the universe and all the different galaxies and planets and so on that it would be hard to fit it all in one flash.

Anyway, very nice flash and it also really stands out from all the other flashes here on NG because of the topic you chose. At least I haven't seen a single flash on Newgrounds so far that tells me something about the universe.

Really a big thanx for you like my gadget! And thanks Raven-Guard (Darklight17 & Supersteph54) by the incredible relaxing song, and it is courtesy from Steph.

Yes, it is pretty hard think how big could be a monster star as VY Canis Majoris, or R136a constellation, and if it was an Earth, how many people would exist in him? And how much carbonic gas in the atmosphere if it would have industries? Is a really good thing to think about.

Maybe I create another one explaining a lot from the universe, and I want to see your review there xD

Thanks for like this one because he is only one in NG explaining something about the universe, also have "The Scale of the Universe", but it just explains largers or widths and such, here I took their volumes and mass, and explained a little about each thing.

THANKS AGAIN!!

Too fast

Well, the concept is interesting and the introduction to the game spoken by Fro is a good idea as well.
I like how the points are explained before the game starts.

The only problem with this game is, that it is too fast to play it. Jesus is gone in a fraction of a second so it is nearly impossible to hit him. The only way to hit him is by sheer luck.

So yeah, planning and concept is good, but the excecution of this idea is flawed. :P

hahah welll... the idea at least was good :P

Nice tutorial

It's a decent tutorial that sure will help some people out there that have trouble inserting sound into their flashes. However it would be nice if you could also do a tutorial for newer versions of flash (if this is possible for you, that is).

Basically your english is pretty good, but there are some typos in the text and sometimes the grammar is wrong and sometimes some words like "to" or "in" are missing. My suggestion is that you show the texts to some native speaker before you submit the flash.

A minor flaw was that the pause and stop symbols where labled wrong. "Pause" was labeled as "Stop" and "Stop" as "Pause". It was a bit confusing at first.

However, I liked that you put many examples in this tutorial. That way anyone who reads it will learn how to add sound a lot faster. If you could now iron out the small grammatical flaws this would be an awesome tutorial.

MCarsten responds:

Thanks Haggard, I did these several examples for the people understand that we can do some examples for each thing of sound without need to be changing a lot of the script, maybe this did people like my tutorial and favorite it, I had eight people.

Yes, as I said with Sixflab, I'll need to find someone to correct the grammar using a native from english language.

Thanks again for the great review!

Nice

A very short, yet entertaining escaping game. I loved the animation style you used and the three different endings where pretty good as well. Even though I didn't get why the condom and the light bulp would cause instant death... ah well, it's just a game. ^^

I liked that you could also just use common sense to get out of the toilet after you found the cell phone. No need at all to get the piece of toilet paper and call the number on that one. Because what is it you usually do when you are in danger and have a cell phone? Right, just call the cops. ;)

I lost?

A very nice puzzle game and it isn't too complicated either. Problem is, it doesn't really work: I needed exactly 70 moves to reach all the fields and yet the game told me I "loss" the game.

Also, this little grammatical error is another thing that bothers me. There isn't too much text in this game, so it shouldn't be too hard to proofread it. It should be "You lost the game" and not "You loss the game".

Good concept

I got stuck on level 24, I just didn't know what to type there. I also had some troubles with that little bird. I tried "European Robin", "Robin" and "redbreast", the game wouldn't accept any answer. Then I tried it with "passerine" because I thought maybe that's what you meant with "kind of bird".
Then I just tried typing in "robin" (with a lowercase 'r' this time) and it worked. You might want to have a second look into what the game accepts as an answer here.

Anyway, I think the concept of the game is pretty good. I remember playing similar games a few years ago and I always enjoyed it. It's a nice change from all those boring quiz shows that they show on TV everywhere nowadays, because here you have to stop and think, and sometimes even think outside the box.

You just have to try to iron out the little flaws the game currently has and you have a very fun and challenging game.
