Good tutorial

I'm not too happy with the background colour. I think black text on a white background still works best for longer texts. Granted, it always looks a bit boring, but why change around something that works so well?

Anyway, I really liked this tutorial. You explain very well how to create different kind of buttons. I still see flash submissions where the buttons don't really work or where only the text of a button is clickable (which can be annoying if the font is too thin), so I think it's a good thing that button tutorials are submitted somewhat regulrarly by different users. This might encourage some upcoming flash artists to watch at some tutorials every now and then.

Last thing: The links on the start screen didn't work for me. The mouse pointer changed appearance, but when I clicked the links nothing happened.

I tried black but I don't think it went as good as white. I'll keep that in mind for next time, though.

I just noticed that the screen doesn't work either. I can't change it though since I lost the .fla file.

Thanks for your review

Basic

Bounce-a-ball games are very basic games, but they are a good way to practice action script and other things you need to create a game.

Controls are simple enough, it's just that I never have been good at those type of games.
But I like the ability to upgrade certain things, it adds a lot of replay value to the game. It would be cool if there was some sort of highscore system, like "most bounces in a row" or "highest bounce", those kind of things.

You also should look into a way to disable the TAB button. I could simply hit tab and then space to bounce the ball. When the ball went too high it was suddendly gone, heh.

Basic player

There are a few "Jukeboxes" in the flash portal already, so the idea is not too new, but I still like messing around with those jukeboxes.

Yours doesn't have a lot of interactivity, only the basic functions of playing a song, playing a random song and playing "next" previous" songs. But really, what else could you do with a program like this. Maybe searching for song titles, but such a feature would be very hard to implement. As far as I know not even Newgrounds offers such a feature.
Another idea would be: only browsing songs of a specific genre. But this could be very hard to implement as well.

Anyway, I like the "get it" button a lot. It brings me straight to the submission I'm listening to right now, so that's a pretty cool thing.
I also like that the "previous" and "next" buttons skip those song-ids that don't exist (ie where the song has been deleted).

Overall, it's a very basic music player and a very basic submission. But it's fun to play around with it.

I've been having trouble finding them. I know there's NG radio and NG desktop radio. Could you possibly send me a PM telling me where to find them?

"Song Titles ... Genre"
That would be very hard indeed. It would require the player to actually read the website.

Glad you enjoyed the device, Thanks for reviewing.

Hmmm

I really don't know what this is all about. So if your goal was to confuse the viewers, then you have accomplished it.

Anyway, the graphics are pretty good. Even though this is mostly in dark colours it looks very good overall. I also like the animations on the girl, like the hair blowing in the wind and the clothes as well. I also liked how the scenery changed from time to time.
But after clicking for about 2 or 3 minutes and not getting anywhere I quit the flash. Was there supposed to happen something else? If so, I must have missed it. :(

There are exactly two things that are interactive.
The girl and something else.

Thanks for the feedback. =)

Good but could be better

The game can keep you entertained for a while, which is a good thing. But there are many tiny things that annoy me, which make the game less enjoyable for me.

- The music gets annoying very fast. A mute button would be a good thing, or maybe different tracks to choose from.
- The background gets boring very quickly, as there is nothing to look at.
- Highly subjective, but that "smiley face" is annoying to look at. But on the other hand, what else could you have chosen as a "character" for this game? I really don't know. I just thought I point out I don't like that smiley face. ^^

Well, the review seems to be very negative now, but the game IS enjoyable and challenging without being overly unfair or punishing the player too hard.

Thanks, i will definetly pay more attention to it in my next projects :P

Tbh, i wasn't thinking about making it into a game at all.
at first, it was just to learn action script and practice, but i made a few different levels, some trouble shooting and bam! ^^

Hmmm

One gun, and that's it? I mean, I'm not that interested into guns to begin with, but when playing a game I would expect that I can try out more guns than just one, since the experience of shooting a virtual gun is never the same as shooting a real one I would want to at least try out various guns with different shooting speeds, different sounds, etc. .

I liked the idea of giving the player different targets to shoot at, and different sound effects for each target as well, but sadly that was about the only thing I really liked about this game.
The rest - and I am just being honest here - is just some mediocre point and click game with no real purpose at all. The animation of the shooting gun doesn't even look that good since the gun stays at the bottom of the screen no matter where I aim (I would at least expect the gun to change it's angle if I aim high or low).

Overall the idea is somewhat original. At least I never played a shooting range simulation before. But it would really be nice if I could try out a few more guns and if the gun would be a bit better animated.

Not too much replay value

Okay, now that I've beaten the other guido the game doesn't seem to offer that much replay value. I mean, the game is fun to play. The graphics are nice and the controls work fine. But the setup only works for one or two games before I get bored of it.

Also, the block button doesn't seem to work after the cutscenes, I always got punched once before I could block again.

Also, what the hell is Jersey Shore? ^^

YoinK responds:

according to your medals earned... you didn't even perform a super punch. Hold your mouse button and release for super punch abilities. There's replay value if you haven't earned all the medals. Jersey Shore is a reality show on MTV.
