Good game

A pretty nice approach on the genre of "avoidance" games. I like the different "bubbles" we have to avoid. The green ones flying across the screen from left to right, the red ones move from top to bottom and then we have other "bubbles" that stay on the screen and move around.

It gets very challenging, but it gets a bit easier because you chose different colours for different moving bubbles.

The musical selection is good as well and it's nice that we can chose from 4 options (off, and three songs) so everyone should find an option that suits him.

A few introductions would've been nice, though. Maybe a small menue where you explain the movements of the different bubbles as well as the bonus bubbles we may encounter while we are playing (for example I once hit a golden bubble and my score was reset to 0... >_> ).

Great game

Again a very nice submission. I don't get why it didn't do so great like the prequel to this game. Well, at least you've won UOTW, so congrats for that.

The video sequences are again very nice and quite funny (especially the sequence where we have to guide Fro and Nick through the corridor). I also liked you included the stuff we picked up in the first game into this game as well.

It would be nice if you could change the last "press up key" to "press left key" though. I got it wrong the first time even though I read the author comments before I played the game... -.-

I hope we can see a sequel to this series some time in the future. :)

Yeah, like I said down below, even if we do change it then it takes months for admins to approve it. :P

A sequel will be in hand here sometime this summer.

Simple concept, but works well

Those kind of games have a very simple concept. But it's enough to keep the player interested for quite some time.

The difficulty increases very suddendly. At first only the grandma is there, which is easy. But once granpa comes into the game it gets too difficult too soon, I think.
Sometimes it's just impossible (or at least I found it impossible) to rescue all of the characters currently on screen so the game was over very quickly for me.

Maybe if you could alter the rate at which the difficulty increases a bit it wouldn't become too difficult all of a sudden.

The music you chose was pretty nice and it fits quite well to the comical look of the game but it got a bit annoying after a while. A mute button would be a very nice thing to have and/or maybe some more tracks to choose from.

yeah tweaking the difficulty was the..most difficult part of this, and it's still not quite right!
Because the timing is slightly off there is a near ni impossible situation every 45-50 points or so! (Whoopsies).

I'll definitely be adding more variety of music/muting in my next projects!

Cheers, J

Good game

Hey, this is actually a very good game. I really like the video scenes you threw in there, they are funny and help to advance the story a bit further.

I also thought it was funny when Nick found the fire extinguisher and then we could see him with all the stuff he picked up earlier, that was a good joke.

The rest of the game was indeed very straightforward, and I think you could've made it a bit more difficult.

But the game offers a lot of genres and the video sequences are funny, so I guess it's okay that the game elements aren't too hard here.

However, the music didn't loop too well, especially in the car game. So you should try to find a better loop for the games. :P

Fro responds:

Yeah, I tried to make the song loop better, but it wasn't originally a loop so it was hard. We will reuse the room song, but other than that I think Nick and I will create the rest.

Decent

A very simple game, but it's quite fun to play it for a while. It's a nice game to play it while you have a short break, but nothing that you could play for hours and hours.

The controls are a bit unresponsive at first. It gets better once the mouse is drugged up a bit and moves slower, but in the beginning the controls are not that good.

Also the flashing lights where a bit distractive. Sure, the mouse is drugged up, so it should have an effect on the game, but I never was a fan of flashing screens. ^^
Maybe you could simply blurr the background image, or change the colours around in it, I think that would already do the trick.

There a very few games like that one :p

You are right -.- it was a weak point

Haha but they where funny :P

Thanks for reviewing!!!

Gets too repetitive too fast

The basics are there. The game mechanics seem to work fine, but the gameplay gets very very repetitive really fast. The only thing I can do in a battle to damage an enemy is a simple attack. The animation gets old really quickly. Also it doesn't involve too much strategy to only press that one button. Some magic elements would be a nice thing here, you could then create monsters that are immune to certain magic attacks and vulnurable to others.

You should also add a mute butto nas the music also gets repetitive very fast.

Also there seem to be some bugs in the game. When you switch monsters the stats change, but not the image. Then the "experience needed" stat seems to be off for the second monster.
Also when you just leveled up, the "experience needed" stat also displays the wrong number.

Overall the game has a lot of potential, but right now it gets too repetitive too fast.

oks thanks a lot for the review... i am accepting ideas for the second part

Straightforward, yet fun to play

The controls are very easy and they work really well. Of course the game isn't overly complex, but it's still quite funny to play.

I could follow the storyline even though I haven't played the other parts yet, but I guess I will catch up on part 1 and 2 soon.

Maybe the text could be a bit bigger as it was a bit hard to read at times, but that's about the only negative point I have for this game.

Simple but solid

When I was a kid there was a TV show where you could play minigames and win lots of money. One of the minigames looked pretty much like this (I'm not saying you copied the idea, just stating similarities here).

The gameplay is very simple, but it makes for a very solid game, that entertains you while you are playing it. The graphics are all pretty good and I liked the little animations in the game (for example that Joe falls out of the mining card when hitting and object). Those small details are what makes the difference between a simple and boring and a simple and funny game. Yours definitely is one of the latter.

The song was funny for a few moments but got boring quickly, so it's nice that you put in an option to mute the music.

ProfessorFlash responds:

Yeah the animations are great. Thanks for them goes to my buddy Ani-x aka Seoul Snake aka Mos Stef. Joe crashing into a barricade and Joe getting flattened by the train are my two favorite animations :).
Thanks for the review.

Simple but enjoyable

This game never gets old, I guess.

While the graphics here aren't the best the game mechanics work pretty well, except for that the ball is right in the middle of the next set of blocks if you finish one level.

A selection of different music styles would be nice, though. It gets boring really quickly to listen to the same song over and over again. Also you should try to lower the filesize of the songs a bit. This flash is nearly 4 MB big, and I think it's because of the music.
While 4 MB might get loaded up pretty quickly it puts unnecessary strain on NGs servers and thus it raises the costs to run the servers (a little example: A game is 4 MB big and it's played by 200 people. That results in 800 MB loaded from the servers.
Another game that is 3 MB big and it's played by 200 people as well. Now there's only a 1 MB difference between those games which today really isn't that much. But the second game only results in 600 MB loaded from the servers, which is 200 MB less than the first game).

Anyway, this is a simple but enjoyable game and I liked playing it.

TheSongSalad responds:

Thanks for the review man. To put any sort of music in at all, even at low quality, raised the file size quite a lot, your right.
