This is a very interesting experiment and I think I would enjoy it more if I were more into flash making and action scripting.

What is left now for me with only basic knowledge of flash is a quite entertaining and challengin yet highly repititve game. I don't know if a game any more complex than this one can be created without using AS, but maybe some more levels could be added. Which would be difficult without Action Script, I guess. But maybe you could create a collab of "follow the trail" games that all don't make use of AS.

Maybe you should take out the fake preloader, as there's really no need to let people wait that long until they actually can play this game.

Bezman responds:

The idea's so simple that it really doesn't merit a collab. I might make more levels like you suggest though.

Without the fake pre-loader, folk on really slow connections might notice a problem when the game starts. Also, I wanted folk to be able to settle in their seat. I guess if I had some graphical info there, maybe the preloader wouldn't have started boring you?

Anyways, glad you liked it and thanks for the review!

A very nice variation of the Tic Tac Toe-Game. The cube added a whole new perspective to the game (literally speaking ;) ).

Sometimes it's a bit hard to rotate the cube. Maybe you could add some buttons to rotate it rather than rotate it via mouse movement.

The 3 fields right next to the cube sure helped a lot with this game and it helped me winning a few games, too.

The music is nicely chosen for the game, but a mute button would be a great addition to the game. Even the best tune gets annoying after a while. ;)

CaptinChu responds:

Okay! I found out the problem with the rotations; next time I'll use a different angle system. Mute buttons are easy- I'll add one in.

Yay, I scored a B+!

The game is pretty addictive, even though it's very simple.

The graphics are kept very simple, but I liked the dancing stick figures, heh.

You've done a good job with distracting the player. Sometimes it's very hard to stay concentrated when the whole screen is flashing and loaded with different symbols.

I somehow missed a mute-button here. Okay, the music seems to be a key element of the game, but I had to turn off Janis Joplin to play this game! (I hope you know what a big sacrifice I had to make to play this game :P )

Overall, the game is highly addictivem, but needs a bit work on the graphics.

Lol, I always get 7's from the Review Request Club on all my works.
You liked the dancing stick figures, as did everyone. And I didn't put in a mute button because the background stuff matches with it, so it's an important part of the game. I'm still glad you liked it for the most part, and I'll try like hell to draw better in the future.

Nice mini game you have here. The graphics are pretty nice and the gameplay is very easy to understand (well, point and click ^^).

You should try and disable the Tab button next time as it is quite easy to get a great time with that. It took me 18 seconds... when I played legit I needed 49 seconds.

However, this game is very addictive and it's great to kill some spare time. :)

I liked that you put in the english and the german version of the song and still kept the file size at 1 MB. Most flash artist don't seem to be able to keep their file size below 3 MB with only one song...

Matt-Porter responds:

Thanks for understanding it was just a mini game, and big thanks for the review. I was a little worried about the audio quality, but not doing what I did would have bumped the file size to about 5 MB, so it was definitely worth it. Well, keep an eye out for stabika episode 3, It far surpasses the first two :)

Like Bezman already said, this game consists of nothing else but "trial and error". There was no way to indicate which "Play"-button is the correct one. Well no way except for clicking all the buttons that were on the screen.

I don't think that this concept is very entertaining nor very original. If you would draw the correct play button slightly different from all the wrong ones, so that the player could actually SEE the right button it would be much more fun to play the game.
Of course you would have to think of ways to hide the correct button among all the wrong ones, but I think the effort would be worth it.

90% Of everything we learn comes from trial and error.

Aww... I failed to entertain someone... :'(

Ill keep that in mind.

Effort is not one of my strong points thoe, but ill try anything once.

Thanks for playing thoe. :P

It's a very nice game with simple but very effective graphics and very good sound effects.

The controls are simple and good and very easy to understand. At first I thought this would be another "Yeti Sports" rip off, but it seems I was wrong ^^. I even think that this is better than Yeti Sports, because of the ability to let the cat "fly" (via pressing "up" on the keyboard) etc. .
Also the "power ups" are placed nicely on the ground and with a bit practice it's quite easy to even hit those ^^.

However I think it would be nice if you zoomed the view out when the cat is flying high in the air. Maybe you could even add a few power ups there.

All excellent ideas! Thank you Haggard. I've mentally checked this game off as complete. I like your thoughts though and may include those in my next game. Thanks for taking the time to look at the game and write a detailed review.

On the technical side this is ok. The buttons are big enough (and they are actually buttons, not just clickable text) and the text is easy to read. You may want to change the background, though. It's quite irritating to stare at that spinning background the whole time.

Also an option to turn the music off would be very nice ;) .

On the practical side I don't think that this tutorial is really necessary. You could have at least explained when someone gets a save and a blam point (voting 0-1 and it's blammed -> blam point, and so on).
Else I would say: Vote what YOU think this flash deserves! Don't vote just because you want to rack up points.

I should add a music control switch. Thanks.

It's a great game with a very high replay value. Right now I'm playing as an Assasin, but I sure want to check out the other classes, too.

I like that I am able to skip the cutscenes. This makes playing much more enjoyable on later playthroughs as there is no need to listen to the same story again (at least not as long as I perfectly remember it ;) ).

I also like that you provide an option to play the game in german. I really appreciate that as german is my native language.
However, I noticed some small typos during the game while playing with german texts. Nothing big, but maybe they can be fixed later.

Krinn responds:

Hey,

I'm glad to see people who like the German option :D We made some mistakes because we jammed the workload into about 12 hours time space.

Thanks for playing and reviewing! :D

It's a nice and well written tutorial. Easy to read, easy to understand. Just the way a tutorial should be ;) .

However, I was missing a "back ot the titlescreen" button. It can be very annoying if I start from step 4 for example and want to read step 7 after that. Then I have to click all the way to step 7 instead of just "back to menu" and then on "Step 7" in the menu. Maybe you can fix that.

Otherwise the tutorial was very good!

I'm an average human... at least when it comes to short term memory.

The graphics need a clean up. Everything looks so bland right now. I think the background is what bothers me the most. If you use a (dark)-gray background you should use bright colours for the text. It's just a little bit easier to catch the numbers then.

The clock could use a little clean up, too. Maybe an analog watch would look better here.

I think that we don't need that much time to remember 2 or 3 digits, so it would be nice if you could cut down on the "time to remember" in the earlier levels.

Also, if the text in the textbox would dissappear if I click there to write the digits would be nice, too.

Overall the game is pretty nice, with a nice selection of different music styles (plus an option to turn it off altogether! Most flash artist seem to forget about that ;) ), but it lacks in presantation.

MinusNick responds:

Thanks for your review! I'll see whether an analog clock or digital clock will look better, and I'll work on my graphics. Thanks!
