Wow...

My first thought: "Covering Death? What a disgrace!"

But now that I listened to it I changed my mind. This is FUCKING AWESOME! Guitars, drums and vocals are kick ass and nearly sound better than the original!

Now I can't wait to hear some of your own songs. I hope you do have other songs and share them here with us! :)

Heh..Thanks man.

But I really wouldn't go as far as saying that my mix is better than the original.I don't think that my guitar solos did the song justice..Hopefully Chuck wont mind XD.

Also..I never really planed on putting my original work on NG.I think I'm just going to do covers for now.

Thanks for the review dude!

Nice

The slow build up is done pretty nicely, but it sounds a bit too generic. The guitar was unexpected and made this song a lot better (even though FL guitars sound pretty awful).

Corky is right, the cymbal at the end doesn't really fit there. You should try to end this song in a different way. Maybe with a hold guitar note or with a good old fade out.

Thanks for the review! I'll consider this for future music.

Daft Punk-ish

Those robot voices really remind me of Daft Punk. Also, the funky intro seems to be heavily influenced by them.

Anyway, I like this song, it creates a happy atmosphere and sounds pretty unconventional. Sometimes it reminds me of some of the 90s dance tracks, the next second I recognize some 70s rock influence there (you know, those long-winded guitar and keyboard soli à la Deep Purple).

However, the main beat of the song stays almost the same nearly through the whole song. This gets boring after about 3 minutes.

Thanks for the review! You're right about the beat. Nothing does really change throughout the song, but you wouldn't have noticed it if everything else stayed the same throughout the song, as you would see in not so few dance tunes... ;-)
Anyways, I really should have programmed more drums into this, but at the time, I wasn't too proficient with writing realistic drum parts back then and to be totally honest, I didn't even have the patience to do it. You know, as a listener I'm not into beat oriented music, but I do appreciate some bands here and there, like Daft Punk, the Chemical Brothers etc, that put effort and artistic value into what they make, so if I'm influenced by anyone, it would be by them... And you're right about the rock part. But you didn't spot Vanessa Mae influence in the second part of the song... Hehe... This was really a blend of everything....
Cheers!

Great

Wow, this is really a great song. Everything fits very well together, from the intro to the very last tune. Great song writing!

Only downside is that the voice is a tad bit too quiet and has to compete against the other instruments.

Other than that, this track just blew me away!

GlueR responds:

Thanks for that! Well, you're right. The vocals are low in the mix, but that depends on your stylistic preferences. I've made songs that are pop, where the vocals sit well above anything else in the mix and others (like this one) that they sit together with the rest of the instruments. It depends on what your goal is for each song. This one isn't about showcasing vocal abilities, solos, too complex instrumentation etc. It's about the message. Everything is built around it and trying not to obstruct it. It's a bit less radio-friendly that way, but I didn't intend for it to be in the first place.

I'm glad you liked this! This is really one of the few songs that really mean a lot for me! Cheers!

Good cover

This acutally a pretty good cover. You managed to bring your own style into the song while at the same time keeping the feelinf of the original intact. This is a very good job you've done here. Most covers are pretty bad and slaughter the original to pieces. The more I appreciate the fact that you didn't do that. :)

GlueR responds:

Thanks for the review! You're right about that. There are a lot of bands who either reproduce the original song or mock it. We really did do this keeping in mind that we are trying to make a tribute to the original. Thanks for that!

Awesome

I agree with war-spawn, this isn't exactly techno. But I couldn't name any other genre this would fit into.

Anyway, this is a damn fine song you uploaded here. The atmosphere that is created by the constant humming in the background is amazing. This nice atmosphere is intensified when slowly the beats set in at around 0:38.
The song is completed when at 1:03 the drums set in with a very nice beat.

Even though the song as a whole is quite minimalistic (there's not much varity in it and the beats are quite simple), it does sound pretty awesome! Nice work!

Thank you very much!

Glad you find the same things to enjoy as I try to emphasise in my music as best I can :)

Nice, but again annoying statics

The intro is done quite nicely and the change over from the intro to the next part is pretty good, too.

The beat is again very nice and the melodies are catchy. But sadly this song too is ruined by the annoying static sounds. :/

thanks again, aall but one of my songs are static messes :(

This is a very good "cover" of the intro of "The Number of the Beast". In the beginning you sound very close to the original. Later on, you still sound close to the original, but you should have put a bit more "drama" into your voice. Also I think the "sixhundredandsixtysix" should be spoken a tad bit faster.

Coop responds:

Well, it's not bad for a first try. I could also use an echo on it, but still, for a raw sample, I think I'm getting there :)

Sounds a bit muffled

Again a nice build up here. Maybe it's a tad bit too repititve, but this can be easily sorted out if you add some other instruments during the build up or if you simply cut down on build up time.

However, the rest of the song is pretty repititve, too. There are very few breaks and/or changes in the song, so you should try to work on that.

The major problem with the song seems to be the somewhat muffled sound. As if someone put a cloak in front of the speakers...

thegreatmorph responds:

Well that said, I'm pretty indulgent in my work and if it sounds good to me I try not to mess around with it too much.

Also the muffled sound is probably down to the poor quality of the uploaded Mp3 once again.

Thanks for the review! I'll try to encompass your advice into my newer works, if I ever get around to finishing them.

Great, but...

This is a good song. I like the slow build up and the rhythm is also pretty good. But what ruins the song are the many static sounds in there. Too bad you don't know where they are coming from. Makes it harder to figure out what went wrong and where.
Did you try to simply reupload the song? Because it would be pretty sad to see this good song getting a low score just because of the statics...

thegreatmorph responds:

Thanks for the advice, and I haven't tried uploading it again, mainly because it's on the hard drive of my other computer which unfortunately is screwed.

I'll try it as soon as I get my computer up and running again.
