Good

Wow, the lyrics are very long, nice. I like hip hop best when the rapper has something to tell (and preferably something else than "I'm the greatest and here's why"). You came up with a nice story so it is very interesting to listen to it.

Only thing I didn't like was the mechanical like way of speaking in the first few lines. Maybe that was intentional, since you are rapping about "a mechanical hand drops down", but I didn't like it that much.
I think you develope a more natural voice later on, or I just got used to the "mechanical" style. ^^

You hit the nail on the head pretty much, my delivery is something I will be focusing on for the future as I believe I have the lyric writing down pretty well. for me it's a lot more fun to write a story than just 3 minutes of me telling everyone how great I am at rapping. Thanks for the review Haggard!

Not my cup of tea

Well, this seems to be a very experimental track and seems to me as if this would belong in the "Noise" genre if that would exist on NG. There are parts that are very interesting (for example from 1:12 to 1:45), but at other times it just seems to be random noisy samples thrown together.

Also, the backing track gets boring very quickly, as it never seems to change. It's just the same for nearly 7 minutes.

Overall, the song is... interesting, but nothing I could listen to for too long. Especially those growling sounds take the fun away for me in this track.

Creepy... and relaxing at the same time

I never played Halo, so I don't know how close to Halo's music you come with this track, but it sure sounds nice.

The intro is very creepy with it's deep hummings. Almost sounds like some track from Resident Evil, heh. Later on, when the more "spacey" hummings set in, the track becomes a mixture between creepy and relaxing. The higher pitched notes sound very relaxing, but the deeper pitched notes that can constantly be heared seem to foreshadow that something is amiss and that it's better to go and investigate rather than sitting on the terrace and taking a nap...

Nice

Wow, this is indeed very relaxing. The voice at the beginning is very nice and sets the right mood for the track that follows.

Even though the song is over 5 minutes long it doesn't get boring one single second. There's always something happening that you like and listen to. Either it's the nice melodies you have in this track or it's the nice backing track.

Also, the outro is done very well. I like how you slowly "build down" the song by taking away instrument after instrument. The reintroduced voice works also very good here.

Overall, a very nice and well thought out track. Keep it up!

Nice remix

It's hard to come up with anything original when it comes to music from mario games, as it all seemingly has been done already. But this is in fact very original. Nice take on the propably best know main theme in gaming history.

Too bad the song is so short though, just about over a minute. It would be nice if you could add some more parts to it. Maybe even use music from other stages in there as well.

Unlike Fro, I didn't like the vocal samples in here too much, but I have to admit they add a bit varity to the song. It would propably sound a bit bland if the voices wheren't there.

Where I agree with Fro though is the ending. It's really messed up. Sounds as if you suddendly lost interested and left the song unfinished.

Prodigal responds:

Haha, thanks for reviewing. I actually made this for a flash collab, but i have no clue what the progress is right now. It was just supposed to be short and powerful, and indeed it is. I threw in the vocals so that it had more of a mario taste, and I didn't do alot with the vocals :P The song is left unfinished because it was supposed to be a collab on it's own between me and BeatSource, but I think we both forgot about it, so i'll just hustle up and try to finish this myself.

Thanks Haggard!

This song takes no prisoners

it just shots all who stand in the way straight in the face. It's pretty fast paced, there are hardly parts where you can take a deep breath, because it is so full of energy and - yeah, fast paced. Just when you think: "Oh good, a slightly slower part" another kick sets in and the song continues in the same speed as before.

I quite like that, actually. Just the right song to play at the top of a party, when the crowd is ready to rock the house. ^^

After that the party might as well end, as it is possible that people will not only rock the house but completly destroy it. XD

Prodigal responds:

I love psyching people out with fake slow tempos. It gives me boners. The song would be great for a party but I think the adrenaline itself would rock the house.

Thanks for reviewing!

Slow intro, awesome song

Yeah, the intro is indeed too long and too slow. You may want to cut it down a bit, because the song that follows is actually pretty amazing. Very hard drums and melodies, I can imagine people would really like to dance to this in a disco. The song is full of energy and I guess it makes people want to dance.

So yeah, try to find a better intro. :)

Centrist responds:

Okey dokie. I'll see what I can do about that. ^^

Unusual

Hm, the intro tune sounds very familiar, but I can't put my finger on it where I might have heard it...

Anyway, the intro is very nice, not only because the melody sounds somewhat familiar, but because it sounds very nice and kind of... promising. It just sounds as if it says: "Hey hold on, there's something good following!"

And something good follows. I like the mixture of the classical sounding melody and the more modern sounding drums.
It's definitely unusual, so I guess you can also call this track unique. :)

Centrist responds:

Ooh, very cool. Thanks for the review mate!

I was trying to do a mix of a 'orchestral rock ordeal' type thing. O-o

BUT! In any case, thanks again for the review!

Resident Evil?

I was playing a lot Resident Evil (the first part) lately, and this really reminds me of some of the tunes you can hear throughout the game. It has the same creepy atmosphere to it. Your nerves are frayed, even though there's no danger visible... but what's there behind the next corner? Oh... nothing...

I get the same feeling when listening to this track. Good thing that I have an Ink Ribbon, so I can save my game and come back later after I took some valerian... XD

Too bad the ending is kind of messed up. If anyone wants to use this in a flash, he has to edit the ending first. He has to either use a transition to the next song or fade it out at the end... it would be nice if the track itself would loop better.

Centrist responds:

xD, ah the days of RE.

I've been having some trouble with the whole looping thing, even if I export them in Reason, there always seems to be a little bit of space at the end that makes the snap noticeable.

I'll see what I can do to fix it up a bit. ^^
Thanks for the review guys!

Nice

I have a soft spot for scotland/anything related to scotland. I visited the northern part of the UK two times already and I liked it. Even though I normally detest mountains (and scotland has an awful lot of them ^^), I really like it.

Your song does indeed sound very "scottish", even though the sound of the bagpipes isn't too real. Sounds more like a midi, heh.

Aynway, the intro is pretty good with the drums and the bagpipes. I like how you slowly add more and more to the song, so that it builds up in a very nicely way.

The outro is a bit too abrupt in my opinion. Maybe a "build down" would sound a bit better here. But on the other hand with the cymbals at the end the song loops quite well.
