Starts off slow, gets better

First of all, why do you want to put this in a genre so desperatly? Why this stereotyped thinking? Just create your own "Genre" and be happy. :P

The intro is very slow and a tad bit boring, to be honest. After the very first riff I hoped it would continue like this, but instead the song slows down after the opening piano solo, which was a bit disappointing for me. Also the flute there at 0:25 sounds a bit strange.

But after 32 seconds when the song picks up it gets a lot better. I really like the rhythm you create in this part, it reminds me a little bit of the soundtrack for "Requiem for a dream".
Also, the strange sounding flute fits in very nice there with the other instruments.

Too bad the outro is so bland, it let's the nice song down a bit.

Step responds:

Wow, that's some nice criticism :). You're not the only one to complain about that outro, and about that intro too. I've already got them fixed, and will update the song when the all the members review me. Thanks for such a great review! :D.

Another thing a mac can't do

Or at least I've never heard a song made entirely with Mac OS sounds. XD
Also, quite a lot of Windows Songs to review lately, I think this is the 3rd one in about 3 weeks? -.-

Anyway, this is a really nice song and it's amazing that you managed to create such a nice beat plus some very nice melodies with only windows sounds. Towards the end it gets all a bit hectic and pretty loud (at around 3:50), but the "question-answer-game" after that is just priceless!

Step responds:

Yup, same here XD. Yeah, Windows songs are the latest trend :P. I was never good with melodies, but these took me really long and I'm glad they came out OK. There are some really catchy melodies in here which I was tempted to use in other songs of mine, but thought against it :P. That Question-Answer thing didn't come out as well as planned, but it's still kinda cool anyway. Might update it soon. By the way, Hectic is my middle name XP.

Nice melodies

You have some very nice melodies in here. Very catchy and they never get boring, even on the fifth playthrough of the song.

I also like that you added some varity to the song by taking a break from the main beat during the middle of the song.

Only thing I didn't like that much was the outro. The song kind of just ends there, which sounds a bit strange. But sadly I have no idea how you could improve this. Fade outs are overdone and don't sound better than what you did here. And adding another part for the outro might ruin the nice and happy atmosphere the song creates.

Thanks, a pity about the outro :c

Good

I don't know the original, but I guess it's from one of the many Zelda games, right?

Anyway, I think this sounds pretty awesome. Especially the strings together with the piano create a very nice atmosphere. Together with the added rain and storm effects I get the feeling that I'm sitting in my warm home with a cup of hot chocolate (or tea) while outside it is storming and raining (which it has a lot in the last few days where I live ^^).

Oh, and I wouldn't bother with reviewing my audio submissions, they aren't very good at all (and one of them is a "cover" of John Cages "4'33"", so there can't be heard anything in the first place. ^^).

Haha. Exactly what I was going for! Thanks good sir :)

P.S. Hot chocolate is so much better then tea :P

I will review your audio. Simply because I can :D

Thanks for the review man!

Nice atmosphere

This song creates a really nice atmosphere, but the quality of the sound is rather low, so it's very hard to understand anything in this song.

Yet, the atmosphere created by the instruments and the effects on the vocals are really nice, it is very relaxing and at the same time a bit creepy.

So yeah, all this song needs is a better sound quality and I'm sure I would rate this 9 or even 10. But sadly I can only give this a 7 for atmosphere and effort.

Very experimental indeed

In the intro I felt I was more like in a forest then on a mountain. Later on I asked myself where this mountain was supposed to be? I came to the conclusion that it can't be in this world, but more like in the netherworld. Or was it because I was playing Diablo II at the same time I was listening to this?

Anyway, I felt this song was very fitting to what I saw on the screen: Demons in the netherworld, the ground cracking beneath my feet, souls suffering endlessly because of the sins they commited in their lives...

Great song!

Thanks :)

I love that game, and can see how it fits the mood of this song.

Thanks for the review :)

Namaste.

Was expecting something different

Now, this is a nice song. I like the melodies and the simple but effective drum pattern. I just was expecting a more... fast paced and agressive track maybe. Because the title says "final battle". Your song sounds right now as if this was on a party after the very first battle. ^^
So yeah, spice this song up a bit.

The outro is pretty nice with this little solo at the end.

I guess I could have added more stuff and made the climax stronger.

Thanks for the review. It was just a quickie to be honest :P

Sounds strangely unpolished

You have some very nice melodies in here. Could be taken straight out of some documentation about the earth. ^^

But somehow it all sounds very unpolished, but I don't know why exactly I have this impression. Maybe you need to do some more finetuneing or it is some very slight static sounds can be heard on the high notes.

Intro needs more work, otherwise fine

I really can't see where this is supposed to be "work in progress", heh. This sounds pretty much finished to me.

Only the intro is a bit longwinded and a tad bit boring. About 46 seconds of the same beat with little to no variations in it until the main melody slowly fades in and even then it takes until 1:40 until the intro beat stops and the song slowly picks off. I think you should either cut down the length of the intro or try to make it more varied.

But once the song really starts off we can hear some very nice melodies. I think this would be a good track for a strategy game like Sim City for example, as it is calm and not too distracting.

Kalapsia responds:

whats with you and games all the time, this is meant for music only and not those gay flash games about anime porn ok

That screeching sound has to go

Yeah, you really messed up the intro with that sound. At first I didn't even knew what hit me (or my ears to be more precisely). Luckily after the sound stops the song gets much better, but it still needs more work.

The beat you present here is very nice, but other than that there isn't much going on apart from two small parts where a melody plays. Other than that there's just some beats and nothing more.
