This tune could be used for pretty much anything, I guess. It fits into so many categories, it's almost frightening! :D

Personally, I had something like a medieval market place in mind, where some musicians gather around and play some songs to amuse the townsfolk (and to earn some money, of course).
But it fits into a dream sequence as well. It would be a nice and soft dream, that can go into any direction.

The note at the end is a tad bit too long. A very soft fade out would have been better there, I think.

A fade would be great, I agree (and of course, now I know how to do that in MIDI). I like the idea of this being versatile, don't let the title throw you - it can go anywhere!

Thanks for reviewing!

Reminds me a lot of Radiohead's "Morning Bell/Amnesiac", as it features simliar tunes in the intro.

I like your improvised song, even though it gets a little bit boring towards the end. But I think you can build up on this submission by adding a few more instruments, like some percussions or a soft played piano.

I've been reading that a lot and I'm starting to think I should create a piece similar to this but with a bigger horn section or something. I don't know. As far as this work is concerned, more would be too much. I'm also not sure what to do about the form, since it's not what we're used to with ABA, or building to some sort of exposition. I guess I should have put in a disclamer that read: "This piece will not have the tension/resolve you are used to if you were born in North America or Western Europe".

I'm glad you liked the improv, thanks for the review!

At first I thought that this is going to be a very repititve song, but after those guitars set in, I had to change my mind. ^^

I like the melody you created with the guitars, it sounds very interesting.
Also, the rest of the instruments really fit into there.

I think that the snyth that starts at aorund 0:52 gets a bit too prominent during the song, maybe you can turn down the volume of that part a little bit.

I agree with the synth being too strong, basically my goal for this song was to see how loud of a song I could make (take that dynamic range), but yeah, my fear kept being that it would be too repeditive, i'm glad it isn't

A very nice remix of an even nicer song. The main riff is easily identified, yet it sounds a bit different from the original. That's what remixes are supposed to sound like! :D
Many remixes seem to be very uninspired and very boring, but yours is different from those. You put your own thoughts into the song and created a new, yet familiar sound. Good work!

At first it sounds very sad and melancholic, but after about 45 seconds into this demo it takes a whole new direction. With the added drums it sounds more like some fighting music (Mortal Kombat style ;) ).

Still needs some more work, like cutting down the volume on that synth that starts at 1:04 a tad bit, but I definatly want to hear the whole song now! :)

Thanks. I hope the rest of the song will live up to your expectations.

I'm very undecided about this one. It's so strange and I certanly didn't listen to anything like that before (and I listened to a lot of strange things already ;) )that I just can't make up my mind.

I definetly like that you experimented with different sounds and effects here, but not everything works out well, I think. The beginning takes too long in my opinion. There's not much happening there, but at least it creates a very creepy atmosphere.

At around the middle of the song it gets a lot better, when the drum beat sets in.
So my advice is, that you add something more to the first half of the song. Maybe a slow drum beat, or maybe a creepy melody played on a keyboard.

Don't know much about the "dance" genre, so I don't know if this fits in there or not. But I DO know that this sounds very nice and it's great fun listening to it.

I also like that one has to listen more than once to this track to get everything that is going on there. I didn't notice the nice background melody the first time through for example.

Too bad that the song is quite short, I really would like to hear a longer version of this.

MadCow responds:

i put it in dance because i found it to be a fast dancy type song. i made it short because i didn't want it to get too boring/repetitive.

Thanks for the review

I like this one. The beat is nice and heavy and I think it fits very well into the industrial genre.

I liked the subtle background noises and beats you added to the song as those keep the track from getting repititive.
I also like that the track loops quite well.

The beginning sounds a bit like a mix between "The Moonlight Sonata" and the track that is played in Resident Evil when you are in a Save Room, heh.

I love this track. I like how it developes over the time and I also like the effects you put on the piano and the other instruments. It really fits and all instruments go along together very well.

Great song!

Ha, the RE save room song. I never thought to compare it to that :D

Glad you liked the simplicity of it :D

Sounds very crazy... but that's not a bad thing. It sounds crazy yet it follows a clear structure. I like that.
I also liked the various parts you had in the song. This makes the song very interesting to listen to.

However, you should use the clapping sound less often. I just think it has been overused. Nearly every trance song makes use of that clap...

Also, I noticed a slight error at around 1:25. As if I was listening to a chewed-up tape. ;)

FunkmasterCatking responds:

Yeah, I don't really know why its doing that, I think it might have been one of the vst's I was using.
