A very nice remix of the famous Mortal Kombat theme.

The intro/outro with the piano was very nice. At first I hoped to hear the theme played on a single piano. Would have been interesting, too I guess. ^^
But I also liked when the other instruments and beats set in. The transition is done very well.

Only thing is that the bass stood out a little too much. It overpowers the other melodies in this track by far, so that it's a bit hard to listen to them.

This is a fantastic track. I think this is perfect as a background track. Which genre? I think this track fits in nearly every genre. I just listened to that song while playing a business simulation game. And it fitted very well. And I guess it would fit as well in nearly every other genre.

Even though the track is over 8 minutes long, it doesn't get boring. I like the various melodies you put in here. Together with the background music they build a magnificent whole.
Great track!

Well, thanks. I guess it works in the ambient genre, seeing as it fits well as background music. ;D

Very nice song. I really like how you build this up from the beginning to the great climax.
At first I thought that this was played much too slow, but then I suddendly noticed that you where already working towards that climax and slowly began to play quicker and quicker and adding more and more to the song.

But I think you should finish the track a tad bit sooner after the climax. Then it would be perfect in my eyes/ears. ;)

Thank you for the suggestion! I 'm not willing to go back and change it at this point, but I suppose I can see where you are coming from. My aim was to create an ending which resolved the phrase used at the beginning. Ending it any sooner wouldn't really fit what I had in mind. :(

I appreciate the review!

This too is a very nice remix. I don't think it's as good as the first one, but it still is good.

There's just something missing here, but I can't really put my finger on it... maybe some breaks during the song, where you either have just the beat or just the melody going on, to make the song a bit less repititve.

KyuubiT responds:

i'll look into that :D last time i was told something was missing i go out looking for it so i will review the audio and try to find the missing you mention :)

This is a good remix and I hope that some skilled artist will use this track in a MegaMan flash one day. It just fits perfectly...

Only real problem are the drums, especially the cymbal. It sounds too artificial and not like a real cymbal. But finding a good cymbal sound is pretty hard, I guess. At least many audio artist share the same problem with the artificial cymbal sound.

KyuubiT responds:

you can say that again i honestly think the problem is its to real for the genre of music this is! the sound is more techno the cymbal is well extremely rock or jazzy and those dont seem to like but so much. im always trying to find newer and better stuff though!
thanks man!

This really sounds like an opening theme to a classical SitCom (or any other kind of TV series). Now, this isn't something bad. In my opinion the opening theme of a show plays a great role in the success of a series. If I don't like the music, I switch the channel and propably never watch that series... now, if I would hear that fine piece of art at the beginning of a show, I would make sure to not miss a single episode, just to be able to listen to that great piece again. ^^

The description of the rock paper scissors duel is very nicely written. Except for that one mistake: "With the next match, I found himself to be the victor, much to the dissapointment of Blaze. ", shouldn't that read "I found myself to be..." ;)

I'm not sure which version I like better. The first version had that "oldschool video game" feeling to it, but this one has a very nice orchestral sound. Also, this track is longer than Version 1, which is also a good thing.

But you should try to make the orchestra a tad bit louder. It's too much in the background now, so that it's nearly a bit hard to make out... even though there isn't much else going on there!

You also should work on the ending a bit. It sounds pretty much cut off right now.
I think the ending at 2:12 is already pretty good, so you should cut out the rest after that.

Sounds great. Like some tune from an old video game (those shooter games, like Silkworm). Too bad it doesn't loop or it would have been perfect!

Anyway, I like how the song slowly builds up. At first we only have the nice background beat, and then the main melody sets in. Good work.
Should be a bit longer, though. ;)

BreakingFaces responds:

thanks, but I had to make it that short because it's the theme song for a cartoon that won't even last that long per episode.

It's a good loop and the sound of it is nice, too. I think this would be very nice to have as a menu melody.

However, at around 0:10 into the song, some of the drum beats sound a bit off beat there. You should try to fix that, as it sounds very strange.

it is diffrent, shit, thnx, tho.

I definatly can "feel" the Final Fantasy in this tune. But the beat is too heavy, I guess. Normally Final Fantasy tracks are more "melody driven", while this song is more "beat driven" (I hope you get what I mean...).

With that heavy beat and the light melodies it sounds very much like some soundtrack from 80s action movies (starring Hulk Hogan or similar 80s stars ^^).

Overall, it's a nice track.

genee responds:

Hi haggard, yeah i added a lil bit of beat driven tune, and perc to sound more trancy, and reworked on percussion and synths, i kinda left a lil of the vintage sound synths kinda like them :P, not the best track but its fun to play with it :D
