White Stripes?

That was my first thought. It sounds just as simple and just as catchy as White Stripes. This proofs once more that you don't need complex riffs and melodies to create a catchy song.

The problem is that this is just an instrumental and now the simple riffs get very repititive. You change around the main theme a bit later on (at around 2:00 or so), but it's still a bit boring.

With added vocals this would definitely sound better.

LMAO, I really did think of White Stripes when I was making this. Especially how there's only a bass drum in the beginning of the song, just like how Meg White does it, only a bass and an occassional snare :P

But, thanks! Maybe I can try adding lyrics to this, but I can't sing.

Pretty interesting

This creates a very interesting atmosphere. Some mixture of relaxing, happy and "caribbean" (but I don't know where that comes from, heh).

The melodies are nice and catchy, only the drums sound a little dull and too generic.

Also, the main beat doesn't seem to change too much in this track. A few breaks every now and then makes this more interesting to listen to.

Good

I like what Urbanus wrote in his review. This piece really sounds sad, but also has some hope in it. "Ah, next time I'll beat this boss!" *Loads last saved game*

Also, the loop is done very nice, so if anyone wants to use it in his or her game, there's no further editing needed. Good work!

thanks its really how i felt a game over theme should be i mean in a game like lets say Zelda 2 where you die then have to go all the way back to the begining ya theres no hope your sad cause it means you gotta start all over where as in a later zelda game like Link to the past you die you just start at the opening of the dungeon and you go again

thanks for the review

A nice start

This sounds very promising. I like the slow build up. The intro is very relaxing, good to calm down a bit. Then the song slowly builds up to a more dancable song.

Too bad it isn't finished and in an very early stage it seems. I would like to hear the rest of it. :)

Good

Midi sounds awful, but I guess you know that already. I would really like to hear this with a real saxophone. The melody is nice and pretty catchy. This all is backed up with a nice piano in the background.

Good work on composing, now you just need to find a way to record a real sax. ;)

oh it will happen when i have the tools to do so I have a sax player (i could do it but I was 3rd chair in regionals and he was 1st and 2nd in all state i didn't make it lol) to play it for me now i just need to find a piano player because to be honest im an ok pianist but this is a little beyond me

thanks again for the review

Nice intro, but it's too long

I like the piano intro, but it goes on for too long. Seeing as this is labeled as "Heavy Metal" you may want to cut down the intro a bit. If I read "Heavy Metal" I expect guitars and drums, not a piano. ;)

Anyway, when the guitars finally set in after 2 minutes they sound a bit overpowered. They nearly outpower the drums, which is a pity.

The atmosphere you create with the guitars is nice, so you just have to work a bit on the mixing here.

Ok thanks for the review. I'm gonna cut up the intro later and remix the other instruments.

Nice

It's pretty nice and I actually felt reminded of some C&C tracks even though I never played that game for too long. But your track has the same futuristic feeling to it.

I think that one sound from the intro (that one that starts right away when the song starts) is a bit too loud and it goes on for too long. It was hard to make out the other instruments when that sound was playing. Only after over 1 minute you break it up a bit.

But overall it's a good song.

Advertising is good

Yeah, if you want to voice act you need to advertise more. In the audio forums for example. Of course it's good to have actual demos of you voice acting in the audio portal so animators don't have to buy a pig in a poke.

Like Coop suggested, a link to your demos in your signature is a good start (maybe "Will voice act for food!" will work even better ;) ).

The ability of doing accents is also a good thing. Maybe you can make a demo with european accents? This would give your voice acting a special note, I think.

I am really happy that people keep making helpful suggestions, it means a lot. Thatnks for your kind and wise words, I will do my best!

Good range of voices

You have quite a good range of voices, but on some of them you just try too hard (for example the very first one). They do not sound like realistic voices, but more like you are mocking someone with that voice.

My favorite voice was that old sounding one at 0:39, this one sounds very realistic.

A few more accents would be nice to have, so that the voices are more distinguishable from each other.

Sairex responds:

Thanky ou very much for your review! As someone before you said, it seems that I am ''hurting'' myself while doing some of the voices, especially the first one. I don't remember any actual pain or struggle, I think I just didn't take a big enough of a breath before doing it so...no worries :D

Yes, everyone loves satanical old grannies, don't they?

I think I'm gonna make my next demo either with accents or maybe in Russian, can't decide yet.

Not enough Heavy Metal

I like 8-bit tunes.
I like Heavy Metal.

So this song is a pure win for me. But I like Heavy Metal more than 8-bit and this is filed under Heavy Metal. So I agree with some of the other reviewers who said that there should be more Metal in it.

The tune itself is very nice and I like the melodies and beats you created. I liked the second part (at 1:10) better, because the contrast of the heavy guitar and the kinda lightweight sounding 8-bit tunes is very interesting.

loansindi responds:

Thank you for the review.

I also am a fan of the second part, and when I get around to visiting this style again, that's the approach I'm going to take. Eventually the guitar will also take solos, they just need to be written.
