Repetitive

The drums are a bit boring in the long run, but I like the bass at 1:04, it plays a good melody.

Too bad the song is so short and most of it is taken up by the "intro", which doesn't sound too interesting. The drums play only that one riff over and over, which only little variations in it.

I know, this is still WIP and it seems to be at a very early stage yet. I suggest you try to bring various drum beats in it to make it less repetitive.

I agree, I'm sorry, but I have nothing left to say as I had said everything in the previous reviews.... =P

Great song

Another great song.
It's one of those you like hearing in the background, but I found it strangely hard to really concentrate on the song. Maybe it's because it's so lounge-like as you put it in the comments.
But it's - as I've already stated - nice to have this song played in the background. You get something nice to listen to, but it doesn't require your full attention, which has a very calming effect, at least on me.

So maybe it would be a good idea to have songs like this played in waiting rooms or at train stations, where people are almost always in a hurry and stressed. Songs like this would help them to keep cool. ^^

Its slower than i usually play, it was a style i wanted to try out for a change (the adagio) on this theme.

Cool

The distorted bass sounds pretty cool. I also like the transition from the intro to the distorted part. Would be very nice if by the time the player reached a certain part of the level the distorted part would set in for extra creepiness. ^^

However, I think the middle part (from 1:00 to 1:45) could use some more work. Right now there isn't too much happening which I found a bit disappointing after the cool part we could hear before.

But overall it's a very good son.

yea, i figured that was a bit empty, but since this was made for a short game level, i wanted the more quiet subdued part to contrast the solo, and i thought that since there was a game going on it it would fit into a background music type of thing. anyways, thanks for the review!

Good song

Much like Fro I got reminded of some RPG "town music", but not the starting tow (music there seems to be more sad, as the hero has to leave, heh), but some place you travel to later, when the first bosses have been beaten and the hero then comes into a bigger town where people are more cheerful in general.

However, towards the end the song gets a bit repetitive, so maybe you should try to bring some more variations into the song. Just like you did at 2:06, where you bring in some deeper sounding melodies.

ok thanks for the review. I like the feel im projecting with this song. I am now working on a newer version of this, and it will implement all the advice given here. Thanks.

Very nice

Wow, this is so relaxing... once again it amazes me what great songs can be created by only using a piano. The atmosphere created by this instrument.

I like how this song builds up. It starts very slow and very calm, but become more and more intense while it plays, but without destroying the relaxing atmosphere (much like playing the first two levels of "Flower", haha).

The outro is done very nicely and careful, but I think you should cut out the few seconds of silence towards the end, they aren't really needed here.

Thanks for listening to my song, it's cool to know that it has an atmosphere, and helps to relax. I'll take in consideration the silences towards the end, thanks for the suggestion, cause it's always appreciated for improvement.

Take care, and thanks again!

Good song but the vocals need to be better

It starts off a bit generic in the intro, but once the main beat sets in the song gets a lot better.

I like the fast pace of the beat and the melodies, it really gets your adrenaline pumping. The added vocals are nice, but they are way overpowered, which makes it almost painful to listen to them, you should try to change that.

thanks, i'll improve it. peace

Great

It's a very good song. I like the deep sounding background beats and melodies very much. They create a very good and dark atmosphere. Together with the quite aggressive beat (as you stated in the author comments) you have created a very good song. I can really imagine people dancing to this in a club. It's a good song to let out all the surplus energy and let out some agressions you may have build up, but in a way that hurts nobody and helps you. ^^

julius33 responds:

Wow i really didnt expect this kind of response from RRClub... Ouh an btw, it wasnt meant to "let out some aggressions", I just like dark sounds/songs... (well not all of them xD)

A very nice song

I like how this song builds up. It starts off very quiet, but starts to build nearly from the first second on to a very nice and "full" song.

I like the combination of the deep bass and the high pitched melodies here, it creates a very nice atmosphere.

Also, don't be discouraged if your song recieves low votes. There are people in the audio portal that will simply vote 0 on everything to get their own song high up in the rankings, so the only thing you should worry about are the reviews you get. ;)

Anyway, I don't like that tremolo like effect on some of the melodies too much. In my opinion it kind of destroys the nice atmosphere that you build up with the rest of the song.

I see you enjoyed the first half of the song better. Actually, I realized that this could have been 2 separate songs 2 minutes in. Its great that you picked up on the atmosphere, It was late at night so I was going for that "twilight" dark but light feel. Another excellent review from RRC.

Great mix of genres

It's a good mix between techno and rock, it sounds very interesting. The guitars play their riffs very set back (almost sounds careful), but this way they leave enough room for the other instruments that play some very interesting and catchy melodies.

Even though the song is over 6 minutes long it doesn't get boring as you managed to come up with something new just when the "old stuff" started to get repetitive. Very nice job!

OH35 responds:

Thanks, glad you liked this piece too! Indeed, the guitars are very "cautious" because in this piece we wanted to give more room to the other instruments.

Great song

This song has a very "epic" sound to it, I can imagine this being used in many scenes. I think this piece would fit in a wide range from an intro to a movie, to a battle scene where the hero fights his way back to the end credits of a movie.
However, I think this song is much too good to be buried somewhere in the credits, so that's one possiblity less. ^^

Anyway, I like the build up of the song. It starts off very quiet. The melodies don't step up front in this early stage and we can hear a military rhythm being played on the drums.
Towards the end the melodies take more and more "room" it seems, without even changing the intensity in which they are played in. This sounds pretty good to me, but I think a small rise in volume for the melodies towards the end would sound even better.
