[Mortal Kombat (RMX)]

Good start

It's hard to come up with anything new regarding the Mortal Kombat theme music, but I like your shot at it. You managed to add a few things that make this track original, for example the little voice samples or the way you designed the outro.

However, I think the drums - especially the ones we can hear in the intro - don't fit too well into the song. They seem to be a little off beat.

Overall it's a good try for your first real track, so please do not feel discouraged by the "low" score (hey, a 7 is still a high score in my opinion ;) ), but I had to take a point away for originality (as I've said, there are tons and tons of MK-remixes out there) plus I didn't like the intro too much.
But anyway, still a good start and I'm looking forward to hear more tracks from you in the future. ;)

Sounds good

I think this is a very good song. I like the melodies in here, they get stuck in the head very easily and they sound good, which is always a big plus. :D

I also like the beat. It sounds as if every other beat is played backwards, which creates a very interesting effect. It somehow seems as if the song "stands still" (this is also emphazised by the other backward sounding elements in the song), but yet it progresses with every second it plays... it's a bit hard to explain, but it creates a very interesting duality.

However, the outro sounds a bit bland right now with only the main beat playing.
Maybe a small fade would sound better... or some added melodies that keep ringing in the background.

Nice melodies and effects

I really like the melodies in this song, especially in the first half after the intro. They create a very nice atmosphere that is kind of "creepy" (not that kind of creepy that makes you sh*t your pants, but that kind that lets you be very careful... I hope you know what I mean ^^).

The intro might be a bit long though. The voices there are very hard to hear and if they where supposed to say something special I couldn't understand it.

Anyway, the melodies that set in at arount 1:38 have a very nice 8-bit feeling, which somehow fits perfectly into the whole song.

I get ya ;). It kinda let me play it safe,and I think that was what I did throughout the whole song :P. I never thought the intro was long, and the vocals are just my friend talking sillyness "I think there's a zombie boy eating food off the floor, it's quite disturbing actually. What do we do? I dunno just leave him" hehehehe. Nothing really to do with the song in hand :P.

Thanks for the liking to my tune, and the 8 bit-ish sounds were the hardest to get through, so thanks for taking a like to that section to :D :D

Again a very nice song

I wonder how you can always can come up with such nice compositions. Again this piece sounds very soft and tender and it creates a very nice atmosphere.

Also the background melody sometimes reminds me a bit of the moonlight sonata, one of my favorite classical pieces. Maybe that's why I instantly loved this song. :)

Maybe the recording of the song could be a tad bit louder, but that's about the only negative thing I can point out this time.

About the volume, i decided that im not going to join in the volume war going on in music land (people trying to get more clear and louder voice with every new composition.) Ive started to purposely lower the master volume of the piano before i even start to put down the notes so its much softer. I personally cannot stand sharp tone piano's like most people use in the present day (synth).

Its my personal preferrence tbh.

How i come up with compositions, well.. it just comes to me naturally when i am building the track, before hand i do have a melody in my head but most of the atmosphere (background and emotion or secondary keys) come to me as im composing. I cant think of anything else than that its my experience in the classical and lounge-jazz style and the stubborn mindset to go beyond the conventional, everytime i get to a point where a certain melodical or chord progression is due i try for something different. Ill still be on track of the original idea (theme).
This exact thing can be heard in the capital katlean remix where i later play much more joyfull melody in the same style as the original theme, stuff like that.

Very nice song

It's a very short song, but I quite like it. I like the deep bass combined with the very high melodies. This creates a very nice atmosphere. Also this atmosphere is emphazised by the waterlike sounds we can hear every now and then.

The beat is also very good, it sounds unique and fresh, at least I haven't heard anything like this on NG before. Good work! :)

Some vocals would be cool

I think this song needs some vocals. The guitars get a bit repetitive towards the end so I think the addition of vocals would add some diversity into the song.

I also think the rhythm guitar could be a bit louder. It plays some cool riffs, but they are very hard to make out.

However, I like small interludes (we can her it the first time at 1:17). The drums here sound good and the riff played there is very catchy. Reminds me of some other song, but the name slips my mind at the moment.

Overall the song is nice, but it needs some more work. I also had to think some time about the rating. At first I wanted to give you 7 out of 10, but then I felt it would be too low, but 8 out of 10 felt a bit too high... but since I can't give out half stars I decided to give you 8 stars since I think the song is closer to 8 stars than it is to 7. ^^

Good song

While the synths in here do sound generic (like Coop already mentioned) I really like the added bells here. They sound pretty unique in this context and make sure that this song sticks out from the big mass of dance tracks.

But I also had the feeling that this song sounds strangely set back, just as if it tried to not attract too much attention. Maybe it's because the drums sound very weak in this song.

Thanks for the review. I always try to make it sound different from other songs in its genre, so maybe that's why it may sound a bit set back. I don't think it's the drums though, perhaps I should've added more depth in the song by adding more instruments, like Coop said.

Good song

Sawdust is right when he compares your song to Daft Punk. I was reminded of them as well while listening to your song. Not only the voice reminds me of Daft Punk but the music as well.

The beat offers a very bright and almost happy atmosphere, which fits good to the line "Turn on the spotlights".

Even though the vocals are very robotic they are still quite easy to understand. However, I don't like too much how they shift in tone so much. I think it would sound better if they would stay at the same note more.
But the tone shifting on the line "Let the beat control your mind and soul tonight" is very good. It just sticks in the mind and makes you want to hear that particular line again. So you listen to the song again. And again. And again. And...

Nice

I find it very hard to review your songs. Not because I don't like them, but because I enjoy them so much! It's very hard to come up with something new and fresh everytime. ^^

Anyway, as I've already stated, I like this song. It creates a very good atmosphere, very calm and somewhat relaxed.

Sometimes there seem to be some wrong notes, but the overall impression of this song isn't clouded by this.

I dont consider any notes wrong ever, i always go through my music multiple times to be sure.
What 'might seem a wrong note is often a logical note related to a certain sub melody, or at the least meant to change the atmosphere on a melody's emotion and to remind you and everyone else; its about the total of the music, wich is probably why my style isnt thát popular since its intellectual music, a person cant listen to a piece of mine once and tell me he has heard the piece, the piece must become familiar to one to say this, just like when you visit a town for the first time compared to when you live in that town for a year, the whole perception, the whole experience changes.

Minimalistic

A very minimalstic song, but I like it. The bass is pretty amazing, it adds a very special note to the main beat.

The melodies are nice, even though they aren't too complex.

However, the song gets a bit repetitive towards the end, but I guess that's the problem with all minimalstic songs. ^^
