Funny back then, still funny now

This movie about a movie was hilarious back then and it's still hilarious today. I like how Fro comes up with some silly ideas and the "movie Nick" has to react on it, like the invisible barrier, that isn't there anymore all of a sudden.

I also like the editing of this movie. The cuts and changes of the camera angle are well chosen and it also makes it easier to follow the movie.

Only thing that bothers me is the low sound quality, but that may be the result of converting this movie into flash.

I think it's a good idea to re-upload your old movies. I found them all to be very entertaining and what can be better for an amateur filmer than to present his work to a borad audience?

I just don't see the point in uploading previews if the movies are already done and being uploaded. A preview is there to get people hyped up on an upcoming movie, but if the movie is already out, then there's no use in uploading previews, in my opinion.

Anyway, I think the preview is done quite well. Unlinke previous reviewers I liked the transitions between the movie scenes and I also liked the title cards. The text was easy to read and it told us what the movie will be about. That's about everything I expect from a preview. ^^

Fro responds:

Yeah, I see your point. Perhaps I won't upload the trailers that I have.

Nice movie

I think I saw the movie, or at least parts of it before. But the added subtitles are new. And I must say, I like the subtitles a lot! They help me to understand the dialogue (or "monologue") much better now. Also, the subtitles are easy to read, due to the darkened background.

The acting is quite funny, and I really liked the scene with where Nick punches the KKK member, asking for a donation.

I also liked the reference to Hay Wars.

Only thing I can suggest to improve is: A tripod. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed that in the last scene where - Nick runs off into the woods - the camera wasn't on a tripod and as a result the picture wasn't too steady. In my opinion, the scene would've been better if the picture wasn't so "shakey".

Anyway, overall it's still a nice movie.

Fro responds:

Thanks for the review Haggard! I can't remember if that camera was held by a tripod or not. I think it would have to be because the camera that we used then wouldn't stand on it's own. I just don't think we thought it through because when he jumped it shook the deck.

I'm happy someone watched it who has watched all my other movies so they actually understood some of the jokes. :P

Random but funny

Very random animation, but funny nevertheless. The graphics are pretty good. I like the details you put into the background, for example when we can see the earth from a point of view in space. The atmosphere looks very impressive here.

The story is very random as well. I can't say I understood everything here, but the voice acting is still very good. The characters have very distinct voices that are also not too "over the top" or too stupid, so they fit quite well into this flash, I think.

Overall, it's a funny flash.

Hmmm

I really don't know how to judge this. The video quality is very low. The are "video lines" in the picture all the time (the lines you get when the reading head of the VCR isn't adjusted correctly) and we can barely see the screen of the DS. Even worse: The screen changes position during the flash. It's in the bottom left, then it's full centered, then it's bottom left again... a tripod would've really helped here.

Also, it's hard to follow the story since the animation takes place on various windows on the DS. I don't know pictochat, so maybe it's just the layout of the program, but I found it very confusing.

Later on in the flash the are static noises, that really hurt my ear and the picture gets even more unstable. That was the point where I closed the flash window, because I lost interest in watching this. I couldn't even follow the story up until this point, so there really was no use to continue watching.

But on the bright side: What I could see looked pretty amusing. Ok, it was only stick figures and very sloppy graphics, but I guess drawing on a DS isn't that easy. The animations where quite fluent and I liked the music a lot.

Nice practice

The flash is pretty short, but you state in the comments you did this to practice your animation skills. I think the animations are done decent here. They are not too fluent (it looks a bit strange when the attacker charges towards the porn packet) but they aren't too stiff either.

The background story is quite silly. I mean, turtles taking over the world? Squirrles, yes. They are dangerous. But turtles? Come on! ;)

Anyway, the flash is very short. I think some more attackers together with some sort of dialogue would have been good here.

I liked the background image a lot. It looks very realistic and gives us something to look at. Much better than a plain grey background.

The story was a last minute thing when I decided to put when I added FRAGILE PORN and MREs to the boxes so they wouldn't be so plain. Turtles were the first reptiles that came to my mind.

I should have added dialogue, now that you mention it.

The background image took me quite a while to complete. It's good that people are noticing it.

Also, what's strange about the attacker? Is it because he moves to fast??

Thanks for your review

Excellent

A very good flash. The plot is amazing and I have to say the ending was unexpected and very sad. But on the other hand, this is how life can go sometimes. It's not always sunshine and lollipops.

The musical choice was excellent as well. It fits really well into the context of the movie. I also like that you reduced the quality of the song to keep the filesize low. I'm annoyed by all those authors that put high quality MP3's into a 5 second flash movie, boosting the filesize to over 9MB.

Next thing I liked was the backgrounds. Very nice details there, even showing other clocks going into the cinema and watching the newest flick about ToastedToastyToast and showing other clocks in combat.

Overall, this totally deserves the daily 5th!

Where's the Hamburglar when you need him?

Seriously, the Hamburglar would be the only one (well, besides PatriotClock) who could stop a HamburgerClock on the loose.

The voices in this flash are a lot better to understand than in the other flash I reviewed, so that's a good thing. I also liked that all three of the characters had different voices, this makes it much easier to distinguish who said what.

I think the destruction of Clocktopia could've been worked out a bit better. Just showing a still image of some city and then letting Billardball10 roll over it was a bit lame.

So sad

So, BlobClock is gone missing in action or he got his identity stolen by DumpsterClock? This is shocking and sad at the same time.

Also, can we believe DumpsterClock when he says he's the legit BlobClock? I don't think so.

Anyway, the choice of music was pretty nice. I always liked that song, it's very catchy.
The backgrounds could've used some more effort. Just a lame grey background doesn't give us too much to look at. A cupboard here, a nightstand there or a picture on the wall does add a lot to the background without being overly complicated to add.

I enjoyed it

As others I'm a bit puzzled what this submission has to do with the game, but maybe it's all just part of the plan?

Anyway, the submission is quite good. At first I thought "oh, the mouthes don't move, I guess I have to deduct points for that" but then you addressed that yourself in the flash. So, well. I can't deduct points for that now, heh.

The story is a bit strange, but it is really unexpecting that the characters turn into unicorns and I had a good laugh at the ending.
