Sounds nice so far

Since I don't know too much about DnB I cannot really tell you how you should progress with this song. But I can tell you that I really like what you have done so far. I really like the bassy Bass Drum in the intro, it sounds really cool. You should definitely use that again later in the song.

I'm unsure about the glitchy effects towards the end of this WIP. They aren't really fitting there, so I think you should leave them out.

Hmm alrighty then. Thanks for the feed back!!

Nice song

I haven't heard the original music in the firework display, so I cannot really tell what you have remixed and what was already present in the orignal work. But nevertheless, this song sounds pretty awesome.

I like that this song is so diverse. It starts off really powerful, but then takes it's time and goes quiet for a bit, maybe so that more beautiful and "slower" fireworks can be displayed.

The song then becomes quite powerful again at around the 5 minute mark, so this might be where the pace of the firework picks up again.

This is a pretty cool song and even though I cannot say what is your work on this remix, I praise you for chosing to remix this song in the first place. :)

Thanks for this, this review really made my day. I put a lot of time and effort into this song and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. The entire firework display is on my home page here on Newgrounds, Thanks again!!

Good tune

I really like this tune, it creates a very happy atmosphere and I guess it would be fun to listen to this while playing some pinball.

But the repetitive nature of the track would propably cause me to turn it off after a short time. I don't know why, but I prefer silence in a video game over a track that constantly plays in the background.

Anyway, I like the slow fade in here. It fits very well to the song and it is a good start.
I also like the tempo increase after the stop. It takes away a bit from the repetitiveness of the track, so that's really a welcome change.

KrisKrosNL responds:

Thanks for the review. I clearly know that its repetitive nature is its major downfall. Adding additional notes/instruments to the 2nd part would have prevented its repetitiveness. :P

Hmmm, you like the fading...it'll be hard to chose which format I should use for the fixed version.

Nice beat

Pretty nice beat. I think this can be used by some rappers to rap along to it. I like the melody in the background very much. It's very catchy and has the tendency to get stuck in ones head for a long time.

I also like the intro. The "bleding over" effect is done in a very nice way. Going from "sounds like an old LP playing" (with scratchy noises!) to something way more bassy.

However, the "scratchy" effect (or whatever it is) is also present later on in the track. I think it doesn't really fit there and it gets pretty annoying towards the end, especially when listening with headphones.

BuggMusic responds:

Thanks for the review! I achieved the vinyl effect with a free VST by iZotope. I didn't turn it off after the intro because it honestly didn't occur to me that it wouldn't suit the rest of the track, sorry about that.

Very intense

I really like this song. The atmosphere it creates is very dense and I could get lost in this song. Just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying this song. But I can't right now, as I have to write this review, haha.

Anyway, I think there isn't much to improve in this song. Maybe the drums could be a bit more bassy, but overall this track is good as it is now.

The intro is very nice, starting off really slow. When the string instrument sets in at around 00:39 the song becomes very special. I like the soft introduction of this instrument. The outro is done pretty nicely as well.

Thank you Haggard. :D
I'm slowly starting to EQ drums a little better now, without completely depleting the bass freqs while still boosting the trebles, and then layer more stuff until it makes a nice progression. This track marks the beginning of a new approach to DnB, guaranteed I will work hard to achieve what I want. ;)

Great

This one is actually very hard to review. It's nearly perfect, so you don't give much to criticize here, haha.

The Timpani here reminds me a lot of Strauss' "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", even though the similarities may only be a coincidence, because a Timpani always sounds like... well, a Timpani.

I like the intro and the outro a lot. They are very well composed and fit very well to the song.

samulis responds:

Wow, thanks. :D

I think it was the powerful intro that I started with that made it work. I normally start quietly and build up, but it has a nice initial hit (no pun intended with the Timpani).

Weird

The intro to this remix is done pretty nicely. I think in the beginning you used the intro music of Final Fantasy? Anyway, I like this "switching radio stations" effect you used in the intro.

I can't say too much about the remix itself, since I have never played Pokemon for too long. It seems to be a bit weird and out of order at times, but searching for "Pokemon Mansion theme" on youtube revealed that this theme is supposed to sound like this. And I have to say, after a few times listening to this song, the "all over the place melody" really grows on me.

Maybe the bass line could be a tad bit louder here, so it would set itself apart a bit better from the other instruments. I think the song would sound even better this way.

Rinibra responds:

Actually, Last year I made my own variation of that Final Fantasy 7 piece and use it here in this song. Thank you for reviewing! :D

Nice song

At some parts this song reminds me of the music in 3D Dot Game Heroes (which I'm currently playing on PS3, so it's music is quite present in my memory). Since I like the music in this game a lot it's obvious that I like your track as well.

I like the mix between 8 bit sounds and some more modern sounds, like the drum track. It fits together quite well, which really does surprise me.

Maybe the melodies get a little bit too hectic during some parts of the song. Sometimes (like at 3:27 for example) the song sounds a bit messed up due to this. But overall, this is a nice song.

Hikari responds:

Yeah, I agree with you. Im experimenting with having a melody thats.... not the same through out? lol. Its not that easy, hence why it sounds a bit wird. Thank you for the review!

Nice song

I like this song. It starts out really quiet and relaxing, but it progresses into a very intense song, with some really nice drums and very good melodies.

I also like that this song is over 8 minutes long, yet it never gets repetitve. There's always some new stuff happening that keeps me interested. I think it's really an achievement to write such a lengthy song without repeating yourself over and over again.

RetromanOMG responds:

I was really apprehensive about uploading it because of its length and even considered cutting bits from it. It's really nice to know that it actually stayed fresh throughout.

Sounds familiar

The bass line and the melodies sound awfully familiar, but I cannot say where I might have heard them before.

Anyway, I really like this song. The mix between the deep bass line and the very light and almost spacy background melodies is very interesting and create a very special atmosphere that I haven't experienced in any other song so far.

The female moaning in the background sounds very... interesting. It defenitely adds a special element to this song.

BAZmotherfucker responds:

I live in constant fear that I'm going to accidentally reproduce something that my subconscious has heard / picked up somewhere, and I'll be guilty of ignorantly plagiarizing somebody's work. So it definitely sketches me out when you tell me this sounds familiar haha
