Sounds good

Strange. You say you are not happy with this track, yet you have a 9/10 review score after 4 reviews. So, I guess this track can't be that bad after all. ;)

I like the intro. Sounds pretty muffeled at first but gets clearer and clearer with every second until we are in the "main part" of the song.

And here it starts where I can hear why you aren't happy with the mixing. The sounds outpower each other here and a real structure is missing here.

However, the song gets a lot better again when you put in some various parts where you break up the main beat and bring some other beats in.

I'm not happy with the mixing on this track. The actual composition I'm actually happy with. The intro works out pretty well, but it's the rest of the song onward that concerns me because it has potential to be brought out so much better. The structure gets covered up by some poor mixing. Glad you were able to still enjoy it though. :)

Nice, but repititve

As some reviewers already stated, this track is very repititve.

It starts off very nice with the intro. I like the slow fade in here. But sadly this piece doesn't offer too much else. It's just the same thing over and over until the song starts over.

Well, you said you made this in about 3 hours, and I think this is a rather short time to come up with a good track. Maybe if you invest another 3 hours you can create something much better.
You have the basics in this song, a very nice beat and a good background melody, so try to build up on this.

Hard

The beat is pretty hardcore, so I guess you achieved you goal there. :)

At first I feared that this would be too repititve, but you threw in some nice melodies during the middle of the song.

Still it sounds a bit too generic for me.

Good

I also listened to the original you linked to in the comments and I have to say I like your version better. You managed to create a much better sound, it's much clearer and the kick really sounds better now.

Also, the quality of the song as a whole is amazing. This sounds like some song I could hear on the radio.

Not bad

This is quite good. The sound is a bit muffled, but it has it's own charm. The intro is nice and it kept me listening, waiting for the things to come.

The main riff was nice, too. But the hi-hat seems to be all over the place. At least it sounds as if it is being hit at random intervalls... at least it doesn't sound that good.

The little solo bit is awesome, but you should work on the outro, it just stops in the middle of the note.

Thanks for the advice, and sorry for the late response

Very melancholic indeed

It's amazing what kind of emotions one can create by just using a piano. I don't think any other instrument has this range of emotions.

The song is pretty good and it creates a good atmosphere and I like the slow build up of the song.

However, the recording quality is a bit low, so maybe you should try to work on that to get even better results! :)

i love the piano :) yeah the recording sucks i guess i have to cave and try again on that or beg Kore to help me :P

Different

Yep, it's different, but not necessarily bad.
The sample in the intro is a bit too long before you start adding more to it, so if a listener isn't that patience, he might just turn it off before the song really starts.

Also, the sample just goes on for too long for my liking. After about 1:20 you finally let go of that sample, but by that time I was already highly annoyed by it.

Anyway, I really like the hard drum beat you used here, it sounds awesome!

Yeah I tend to do that a lot, I gotta be really careful, or something that I meant to make really short stretches out for like 2 minutes :S
Thanks for the review ;)

Good

The intro is a bit generic as if your every day techno beat would follow immediatly. But luckily, that wasn't the case. :)

I like the slow build up of the song. It might start off pretty slow, but it gets more and more interesting the longer the song plays.

Only real downside is that the main melody is a tad bit too loud, so that it overpowers the instruments in the background.

Nice, but slow. ;)

I think your friends where right. This could be a bit faster than it is now. But you achieved your goal in creating a 8-bit styled song. Not only because the instruments all sound like what you can hear on an 8 bit console, but the whole song creates a very 8-bittish atmosphere. It's hard to explain but when I started I instantly thought of 8 bit video games. :)

Silent-G responds:

I'll try and make faster songs in the future. I'm really glad to know that I got the 8-bit style down, I wasn't quite sure, so I'm really thankful to hear that. thank you.

Slow

This is a bit too slow for my taste. Also, there's not too much variation in this song, so it's a bit boring to listen to.

But on the other hand you submitted this in the Video Game category. As a video game tune this is all right I guess. It doesn't distract me too much from what I am doing and gives me something to listen to while I am doing it.
It could still be a bit faster in my opinion. ;)

Silent-G responds:

thanks for the review, I've always seemed to naturally make slower songs, but I'm trying to make stuff that sounds better sped up.
