Nice, but bad sound quality

The beat of this short piece is pretty nice. I was nodding my head instantly to it when I listened to it for the first time.

The sound quality is rather low, though. Everything sounds a bit muffled, which is really a pity. Also the sound sample at the very beginning was a tad bit too quiet. It's hard to make out what this guy is saying.

Its a static sound i was using behind the drums and a background ambient phaser.. i was tryong to make ity sound old and well oldschool. Kinda like a DJ was mixing this with records instead of me sitting on logic studios playing piano and programing beats and effects LOL IM glad you like it though

thank you for taking the time for the review

Even better

Wow, this is even better than the first part!

I'm not sure how the changeover from part 1 to part 2 will sound in one file, I have to check that out on last.fm, but both parts work great as a song of their own.

I especially like the double bass towards the end of the song, it sounds amazing.

Lashmush responds:

Thanks once more, sir. (man, this whole two submissions one song deal is kind of annoying on the reviewing end.)

Great

Very great submission. Over 6 minutes long and it doesn't get boring for one single second! Yes, this is only the first part, but I don't think that the second part will get boring. ;)

I like how diversifyed this song is and I like the wide range of instruments you used here. This makes the song very intersting to listen to.

However, I think with vocals this song would sound even more awsome. I was thinking of some vocals like Opeth uses. Some parts with clean singing, other parts with deep growls. It would fit pretty well here, I think.

Anyway, I still rate this 10/10 and 5/5. :)

Lashmush responds:

I'm very glad to read yet another review of yours, Haggard. It seems I have quite a few returning NG members, and that helps me out alot.

Concerning vocals: Wait for Part V. ;D

Thanks for reviewing.

Awesome

Another awesome schleif track!

Starts very nice with that slow intro. The change over from the clean intro to the distorted riffs is done good as well. Amazing how a little break does the trick here. :)

The riff after the intro is nice and heavy, just how I like it.

Also, vocals are kick ass again, but sometimes they are a bit hard to understand, when there are two vocalists singing.

But that's only a minor flaw, the rest of the track is top-notch again! :)

Schleif responds:

and another great Haggard review! thanks man, it really means alot when people take the time to write a great review. ill keep working on the dual vocals then, haha. thanks again man, i really appreciate your reviews!

Very promising

The intro is great, I really like the riff you play there. Maybe the intro is a tad bit too long or it just misses some variations. Anyway, overall the intro is nice.

The vocals... are not that good to be honest. Only later on when two of you are shouting it gets better. Ah well, a bit more practicing and your vocs sure sound better next time. :)

The mixing is also a bit rough. The drums are too weak and the guitar could be a bit noiser, too.

But overall this is a great song and I enjoyed listening to it.

Cheers

If this is only the preview...

how awesome will the final version sound?

Riffs are heavy and I like the double base that sets in at 0:40. Also that little riff at 1:00 sounds very familiar... I just can't put my finger on it. Sounds like some Metallica riff (oh wait, you said Metallica stole all riffs from you, so it sounds like a B-M-I riff of course! ;) ).

Only downside is that the drums sound too weak!

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thank you, my friend. Drums are being "fixed" as I type. :D

I voted 5

So do I get 5 christmas cards now? :)

The intro is very good, slow fade in and a slow build up.

The verses are very bad ass, but the drums sound pretty weak here, which is kind of a let down.

The vocals are good and quite diversified. I also like how you make use of the balance, switching from left to right to the middle again. This can go awfully wrong, but here it just adds more depth to the song. It sounds less "statical" this way, if that makes any sense, lol.
What I'm trying to say it that it sounds more interesting.

Good job!

haha, damn right you'll get 5 christmas cards! and a cigar. thanks alot, great review. much appreciated

Good cover

Good cover. I especially like the sound of the drums. Very powerful but not overpowering the sound of the guitars. Nice mixing, too. ;)

I too wish this was longer. Just when the most interesting part starts the song fades out. :/

Listen to the actual version.

Good

Pretty good attempt here. I like the melodies in this short piece. I also listened to short extracts of "Abstract Art" by Born of Osiris (didn't know them before, I'm not that into progressive bands) and I discovered some of the elements there that you used here (or the other way round, I discovered here some elements Born of Osiris use ;) ).

I think you did a pretty good job of catching the nuances here. The drums sound a bit overpowered, though.

Iskostaa responds:

Thanks, dude.

Yeah, I mixed the whole thing on my little earbuds, and when I played them on my home speakers, it sounded a bit imbalanced. Oh well, the drums tend to be overpowered in metal anyway lol.

Wow...

I'm speechless... at least almost speechless or else I wouldn't write this review. ;)

I like the intro a lot. Slow and soulful and I'm glad schleif didn't put any vocals there. It would have ruined the feeling of the intro.

The change over from the intro to the "real" song is a bit abrupt, but I think it fits pretty good there. It's like I'm half asleep and then suddendly screams: "WAKE UP YOU LAZY BUM!"
Nice.

The vocals are awesome! They fit 100% to the heavy riffs and the awesome drums.

Only downside is that the sound of the vocals (well, not the singing itself, more the recording quality) is a bit strange, as if there is an echo effect added.
I guess that is because no high end equip was used?

Anyway, it only takes a short while to get used to it and it doesn't take away one bit from the awesomeness of the vocals and the song. ;)

Thanks dude. Glad you dig. Fucking Shleif rocked the fuck out of this. Very glad you liked it, man. Thanks for the review!
