Groovy!

This song has an awesome groove. I really like the drums here. And of course the trumpet/the sax. It has some nice melodies to offer.

I also like that you didn't stick to just one groovy beat but added some more parts. This makes the song much more interesting. One groovy beat can get repetitive after some time, but this song would take quite a few plays to become repetitive.

The bass line is also great. It seems that most of the audio artists here on NG completly forget about the bass, in this song it's one of the main instruments. Very nice.

Sounds good

A very nice piece. The drums create a very good marching rhythm, the melodies in the foreground create a very imposant (and sometimes quite happy) atmosphere, that would jolly the soldiers along.

However, the sound quality is a bit strange. Sounds a bit too... distant. As if this was recorder from a greater distance.

I might be able to fix that, i'll see what i can do

Nice song title

Well, luckily it's not only the song title that's nice. The song is pretty nice as well.

Drum intros are (nearly) always cool and it's cool here as well. The main riff of the guitar sounds very good and catchy, the second guitar sounds a bit strange... I think it's a bit too loud compared to the other instruments.
But the second guitar plays some very ncie stuff as well.

However, I think this song needs better mixing. As I've written, the second guitar is very loud and it even overpowers the drums. The bass is pretty much drowned between the other instruments after the intro. It can only be heard occasionally in the rest of the song.

Sawdust responds:

Yeah, but I think that my mixing attempts would be futile due to my speakers being crap. And the second guitar was just a clean amp with wah effects.

Sounds good

You are right, this could work in many situations. For cut scenes where some dramatic events take place or even as background song during actual gameplay, in various genres. I think this could even work for real time strategy games as it helps to calm the player down.

The strings sound very nice, they create a very dense atmosphere. The other instruments could be a bit more present, though. It almost seems as if they can only be heard as a whisper in the background.

Also, sometimes there are parts where all instruments stop playing (at 0:18 or 0:35 for example). This sounds a bit strange from time to time (another odd thing. Sometimes the silence does fit, at other times it doesn't). I think you should have a second look into it.
Two examples where I think the silence doesn't work: at 0:18 and at 1:57
At 2:13 I think it fits.
Well, maybe it's just me... ^^

Bazarlike

I don't know why, but I had the image of a large Bazar in mind while listening to this. Maybe because on the last track I felt as I was standing in a big city, now I reached the Bazar of said city, heh.

Anyway, once again the melodies in this track blend in very well with the background effects and the drums.
Maybe the rain could even be a bit louder.

Its always nice to see what other people hear in it. I guess it could fit fine on a bazaar scene.

Anyway the track was meant as the protagonists (literal) awakening, like a double realisation both in the dreamworld and the realworld, wich is why it starts so hopeful and drags into a kind of 'i need to do something' feeling, slightly reflecting the themes (melody) of the dream.

All in all where in the dream the rain had been seen as a threat, it actually saved him and never ended untill he woke up rejuvinated, the rain is as much the oxygen as it is that wich strangled him, in some way it both stands for the mass of all that is (concerning us) and the show how harmless it is, if you are concious about it.

Good

"Not particularly happy or sad". Well, you succeeded with this. This piece creates a very strange mixture of a "happy" and a "sad" atmosphere. Kind of reminds me of Okami, the game offers similar music at some parts.

I especially like the flute(?) you use for the melody in the middle part of the song. It fits very well together with the background muisc.

ill have to check out "okami", i havent heard of it before. anyways, thanks for the review!

Weird transitions

The background noises (the deep humming and the high pitched sounds) create a very good atmosphere, it is very relaxing to listen to this.

The drums are a bit strange and seem to be out of place from time to time. Also the transitions (slow to fast at 2:09 and fast to slow at 3:35) sound a bit weird.

But overall the song is pretty nice.

Good song, but repetitive

Sounds like Brit-Pop from the 90's, which in fact sounded quite nice at it's time and it also sounds nice nowadays.

The rhythm and the melody are very nice and very catchy. I was humming along to it the first time I listened to this song.

But sadly the song doesn't change too much while it plays. The differences between the verses and the chorus is only hard to make out, so the song gets a little repetitive after some time.

Nice

The song starts off really slow, but it slowly progresses from there, until the drums set in.

I think the drums are a bit too much in the background (or maybe I should've followed your advise to listen to this song with headphones. But I don't have any right now. :( ).

But on the other hand the quiet drums create a very relaxing atmosphere. In the intro the "wind" feels very cold, like in winter or early spring. But when the drums set in the atmosphere changes to a much warmer one. Now it's not a chilly wind but a cool summer breeze, that helps to cool down a bit from a long and hot day.

Great

I don't know how loud the track was when you made it, but here it does indeed sound very quiet.

Anyway, it still sounds awesome. I especially like the glitchy sounds together with what seems to be bird noises in the background (or those bird noises are also glitch sounds, but it sounds as if there are some birds singing, lol).

Also, the drum track you come up with in the second part of the song (at around 1:35) is amazing. On the one hand it seems to be all over the place, but on the other hand it creates a very nice rhythm.

So, the only downside is that it seems to be too quiet, but other than that, it's an aweomse track!

SessileNomad responds:

bird noises are a certain black fellow, pitch shifted up a few steps, but he is just screamin and shit

i think i might go back in and make this track a little louder, we'll see

thanks for reviewin man
