It's an interesting track, but for me the experiment doesn't work out quite right.

It sounds as if you just put in all kind of intros of other songs into this track, and sometimes you let two different songs play at the same time, which sounds pretty messy.

Some of the parts are very worth listening to (like the part that starts at 1:24, but the drums seem to be off beat there), but you shouldn't throw them together with so many different parts, instead you should expand them and work them out to a whole single song. Would be much better, imo.

The intro sounds pretty strange and I think you should shorten it a bit or change the effect of the guitar.

Later on, with the drums added the effect of the guitar is very fitting, but it just doesn't work for me in that long intro.

I like how you put in so many different parts and still managed to fit them all together in one song.

First of all: The delay has to stay in there. It just wouldn't have such a great sound and wouldn't create such a good atmosphere without it.

Ok, that being said, you should get rid of the little pauses you make here and there in the song, or at least cut down on the lenght of the pauses.

You also should add some chorus, or some strings in here. Maybe a trumpet could work, too, if it is played very softly.

I'll get rid of the pauses. fill them in with something interesting. I have a really low quality string sample that sounds like a really good chorus when its played really low. As for a trumpet.... I really dunno.

I like the voices, they make the song very original. Without them the song would be too repititive, but now I have something other to listen to while the main beat is going on. ^^

I also liked the intro, it had a spacey/trancy feel to it.

The cymbal sounds pretty dull, especially at 1:33. That doesn't really fit in there, because of the bad sound and it also seems as if the cymbal is a bit off beat there. It would be great if you could find a better sound for that.

Thank you for the review. I'm always searching the net for new sounds.

You are right, the into isn't that great, but once the song really starts it gets a lot better.

Only thing that annoys me here is that awful and overused clapping sound. Maybe you can find a better sound sample for that.

Overall, it's a very nice song with lots of variations and some great melodies.

Sounds to me as if you are still practicing to play the guitar. At the start it sounds very out of tune and a bit later (at 0:20) it seems as if you were either bending the strings or you used the tremolo arm.
Those kind of things only sound good if you are playing a little solo. But they should be avoided if you are playing riffs (like you did in this track).

Also, the end is just cut off and we are left with 5 seconds of silence. So the track doesn't loop...

This would work very good as a song for racing games like F-Zero or Wipeout (you know, those "future racing games" ;) ).

Sometimes the drums seem to be a bit off beat (mainly in the beginning. Later on they are fine).
Also, the guitars need to be a lot louder. They are overpowered by the drums, even though the drums aren't that loud, too.

Okay, I hear you. I'll keep that in mind when mixing upcoming songs. Thank you, Haggard!

It's a bit too repititive for me, but the drum track sure is very nice. The beat is quite interesting. But I think the drums need more "power" and more bass. Right now they sound much too weak.

Also, this track could need some kind of hookline, or a main theme other than the drums. It's a bit plain right now.

But it also has a great potential. I think you can build upon what you already have here and create something big out of it. ;)

Thank you for your review. After I made this song, I searched the net for a heavier drum sound with more bass and found one. My new drum loop that I submitted was an experimental beat I made, testing out the new kick.

Definatly not a bad day's work.
Sure, it needs some more fine tuning here and there (sometimes some of the melodies are too "agressive"), but all in all this is already a very kick-ass song.

The beat is very nice and creates a quite happy and cheerful feeling.
The combination of the fast driven beat and the rather slow choir in the background is very good and quite unique.
The guitar solo towards the end of the song is very nice, even though synthetic guitars sound like... well, synthetic guitars. ;)

My favorite part was that little piano interlude in the middle of the song. It was quite unexpected, but it fits perfectly there.

WritersBlock responds:

The guitar sound was probably the thing I was least happy with. I wanted it to sound synthetic, but I think I needed to fake it up a bit more so that it sounds a lot less like a guitar, but still has a bit of crunch to it.
Thanks. ;D

I really like this one. The drum beat is very cool and all those other melodies that are going on there sound awesome, too.

Don't know if this can be classified as "Ambient", but I can't think of a better genre myself, so I guess it fits in this category just fine.

Even though the song is a bit short it doesn't get boring and it loops perfectly fine, so I just listened to this for 5 minutes straight without even noticing it's just 1:17 long. ^^

Thanks for the review, I'm personally kind of unhappy with how it loops, it chops off like a 16th note at the end so the downbeat at the beginning comes a little early... but only I would notice that :P

Could just be my browser and/or internet connection...
