Nice picture

Well, the face could be a bit longer. Right now it looks very compressed and because of this the face looks a little bit too wide.

Also, the shadow line could use some more work. Either it should be straight line or the change from the darker side of the face to the lighter side should be more subtle.
Right now the shadow line loses it's straightness below the nose. If it was a straight line it could be used as a metaphor, how everyone of us also has a dark side, or something like that. ^^

I like the hair. It looks very good how the strands are blowing in the wind. ^^

Some parts of the canvas are still white, but I guess that's because of the acrylic paint. It has a nasty habit of coming off in some places, leaving white dots behind.

Yeah, acrylics can be a pain in that regard, though some of it is reflection (as I took a picture of my sketchbook with my camera as opposed to scanning it). But I'll try to eliminate the dots in future paintings.

Thanks for the review :]

Good logo

Well, as others have stated, this pic doesn't have a lot of details. But it's ok for a logo. I mean, just look at the Nike logo, for example. Where's the detail in that? And yet, everyone who sees it instantly recognizes the brand.

So, for a logo this creature as quite a lot of details. However, the eye looks a bit weird. I think it should be placed a bit more on the forehead and maybe even be a little bit bigger.

The mouth (or the teeth) look a bit strange as well. Also, I can't really make out the facial expression. The creature looks a bit sad... head hangs down, the eye has a very sad look... maybe you could try to give it a more "agressive" pose?

Celx-Requin responds:

I always thought he seemed happy not sad.

I actually have a commission I did with this character, I'm gonna see if I can get the person I did it for to send me a picture of it so I can trace over it using flash, the creature is depicted significantly more aggressive in that picture.

Thanks,
- Celx

Nice

Heh, I had to look up what "pictochat" is. Now that I know I think I like the picture a lot better. ^^
I don't know how hard it is to draw in pictochat, but the picture looks nice anyway. A little scetchy maybe and it would have been nice to have a pic where we can see more than just the eyes, but when comparing this drawing to original artwork of Rukia I can see the similarities, which means you've done a good job.

Now, if only there was a way to get pictures from the DS onto the PC in decent quality I could rate this pic even higher. ^^

So my advice is that you should use programs that allow you to use more colours and that allow you to get the pictures onto your PC in high quality. ^^

PowerRangerYELLOW responds:

Thanks for taking the time to review my drawing and i like all your ideas such as getting programs to get pictochat images on to the computer.

I mostly take pictures or video of my drawings of pictochat drawings using a sony handycam.

I'll look into how to add programs to a nintendo ds as soon as possiable.

Very good

A very good self portrait. I especially like the hairs and the hoody. They have very great details.

The face looks a bit strange due to the different light sources on the left and on the right half of the face. It now looks as if the red side is a bit swollen. This impression is amplified by the small blue area on the left side of the face (well, it's the right side from my point of view, actually it's the right half of the face ^^).

Anyway, overall this is a very good self portrait!

Thank you. The hair is one of the things that my art teacher pointed out as the best thing on there. This is my first time doing something like this so I was a little worried about the face. When I did it, it came out O.K. but there are a couple a flaws on there. I learned a lot from making this so I will do better next time. Sorry for the bad quality because it was too big for the scanner so I took a picture from my phone. Thanks for the compliments and the advice. I appreciate your criticism.

Nice

Hey, I remember this character from a flash I reviewed. This shows that you found a very unique style that is remembered by people who watched the flash.
Honestly, your name didn't ring a bell, but now that I see this poster I instantly remembered the flash. :)

Anyway, the poster looks quite nice and it offers the same unique style your flash did. But I think the red background should be of a slightly darker shade. It really hurts the eyes when I look at the picture in full size.

Celx-Requin responds:

Yeah the character has appeared twice, once in the pulp video on "Shark Black:Snowblind +", and once in a old trailer I had up about two years ago...

I agree about the color, I should have maybe even added a red to black granite.
I think it is pretty cool you remember that video though.

Thanks for the review!

Okay cover

This is okay for a cover I guess. I like the simplicity of the picture. Some covers seem to be overloaden with various things, but this cover doesn't reveal much of the content to be expected in the comic itself.

However, the text on the cover is a bit hard to read, especially the blue one. You should change it to some brighter colour.

Thanks for the review man!

Nice

Very sketchy, but yet very effective drawing style. It fits the mood this picture sets. Just as if the zombie like character is in a "killing mode", where he blends out everything else and just sees his enemies he has to kill.

Also I think this is a good advertisement for your comic. At least I am interested in reading it rather sooner than later. ^^

Cool I hope you do when it comes out!

Good pic with some minor flaws

The car looks really nice and the 3D is done very good as well. I like the reflections on the car, they look very realistic (with one exception, see below). I also like the street, looks realistic as well.

You should have worked more on the background, though. Even though there are some pillars it still looks bland with the clear blue sky. Some clouds would look good, I think.

Also the reflection on the side of the car is too strong and the "border" of the reflection is too hard as well. It just ends on a straight line, which looks pretty bad, imo.

So, apart from some minor flaws this picture is very good.

Kinsei responds:

I seem to keep taking damage on the background. I altered it up and posted a rendition in my Art Thread on the Art Forum. I also took the reflectivity down a notch and lowered the camera angle (kudos to Peter for that one.)
give the fixes a look if you get time.
I hope they look a little better

Very nice.

Very nice sketch. This picture has a very dark atmosphere, even though you only drew the character and no backgrounds (well, it's a sketch, it actually would look weird with a background). But the way Luigi wears his head, the coat... it almost looks as if Luigi played a part in the movie "Blade Runner", heh.

Great job!

Kinsei responds:

I guess my sketching and 2D are a lot stronger than I thought. Sadly, I was always paired up with such better artist at my college, I always felt my stuff was kind of crappy.
lol nice way to work in blade runner in to there.

Sweet memories?

Not for me. Well, I have some sweet memories, but Pokemon isn't one of them. By the time the whole pokemon fad came to my country I was in an age where I felt "too old for this kids' stuff" (you guessed right, I was still pretty young, but tried to act mature ;) ) so I never really got into pokemon.

Anyway, the drawing looks very nice and quite realistic. I was almost tempted to take the ball and throw it. ^^

The light effects on the object are drawn very good and also the shadow looks very realistic. There's a tiny spot just right of the "white light dot" where the red colour crosses the outlines, you may want to fix that.

Also, why such a big canvas for one small object? Maybe you should edit the picture a bit next time so we don't have to stare at a white canvas so much. :P

Kinsei responds:

Thanks for the Review Haggard.
in all Honesty, this was piece was less about the pokeball and more of the memories it instills. and this isn't just for the old pokemon fans out there, but that pokeball could have been anything to anyone. A mushroom to the Mario fan, a ring to the Sonic fan, even a sword to the Zelda fan.
I just wanted to get people to stop for a moment in the fast paced world of the internet and have them think, even just for a second, of times long past.

As for the extra blank canvas, that too plays a strong roll in the piece. With that much left blank I wanted to have a sense of loneliness in the picture. Like things we collected long ago, but now they set all alone, some place, somewhere.
