Good

I like the effect you use here. It spreads out from the bottom left corner over the whole picture, which looks pretty cool. You also croped the image in a good way, so we aren't left with a big canvas where nothing really happens.

I don't like the blue lines in here too much, but reading your response to Joshsouza's review I learned that you had to put them in there... pity, they are misplaced in the picture I think. It kinda disturbs the nice effect created by the white and red lines.

Yeah I was trying to figure out a way to cover the entire area instead of just a portion of it. Yeah, I should've just tried to erase the blue lines even if it wouldn't work.

I'll remember to keep my colors consistent.

Thanks for the review, much appreciated!

Full size for full effect

A bit surrealistic in my opinion. The lines on the red background leave some room for interpretations, you could virtually see everything in there... and that's something I like about this picture.

I also like how the eye of the bird on the left side seems to show the background that is also surrounding the red background. Creates a very interesting effect.

I'm not too fond of the surroundings, though. They look a bit too bland compared to the center of the painting. They don't create the same nightmarish feeling the lines in the red center do.

Thanks for the review!

Part of the issue is that the program I am using has an endless canvas, and I didn't realize it would expand that much until I uploaded the picture. That's why full view comes in handy :) So basically, the white wasn't a part of the original painting. But I see exactly what you're saying :)

Good portrait

A very good portrait, especially the hair looks very realistic. The eyes are good as well, even though Nick's left eye seems to be a bit lower than his right eye in this picture. But maybe that's because his right eye is covered with more hair.

The nose is done nicely as well, I especially like the shadow on the alar wing of the nose, gives a nice impression of three dimensionality.

However, the chin isn't done that good. It also seems to be seen from the wrong perspective (but maybe that's just me). We can see the nose from slightly below and also his eyes look down a bit, but it seems as if we can see the chin from slightly above, as if I would stand right in front of him.

Also the neck is a bit too long, almost as big has his head.

I read it all, but don't have the desire to respond to it all. I agree though.

Eh

Looks very childish indeed, even without the title it's just plain obvious that it is done with crayons.

I like the "oppositeness" of this picture. On the one hand, it IS very childish, with the tree and the cube. But the missle doesn't really fit into this drawing, creating a weird feeling. Like: "Ooh, how nice, he drew a picture... wait a minute.. is that a missle there?!"

Ha, you caught it. I really was going for the juxtaposition there.

Good atmosphere, but the perspective is off

Well, the atmosphere of this picture is very good. It's very noir and reminds me a bit of the silent movie Metropolis.

However, sometimes the perspective is a little bit off. For example it seems as if we can see the building on the far right from an angle that is a bit more to the left than we can see the other buildings. Also, sometimes the roof is a bit higher on the back right edge.
Also it's a pity that there is a huge plain just behind the buildings. I think some trees or more buildings (some small houses maybe) would have been nice there.

Anyway, overall it's a nice picture, but there's still some room for improvement.

Will do! Look for my next piece soon!

Good

The drawings itself are very nice. The lines look good and especially the clothes of the guy on the right side look very realistic.
However, I think you should have used some colours in this picture to give it an even more realistic look. You could also add more details more easily this way.

I like that you used nearly all of the space the canvas had. Nothing looks more ugly than huge white spaces on the canvas.

As I said to Celx-Requin, at that time, I couldn't really afford the right coloring materials, and colored pencils would leave texture and be too bright. Thank you for your time to give compliments and constructive criticism. I appreciate it. ^_^

Nice

I like overall mood of this picture, it's very dark and the lightening in the background fits very well to the image.

However, it seems as if the characters in the picture are all the same. The only noticeable difference is the haircut, but the eyes, eyebrows and mouths look more or less the same.
I can imagine that it is very hard to draw faces, but you really should try to make them more distinguishable. Maybe you could do that by adding colours to the picture.

Anyway, I like the details of the clothes they are wearing. Every character has it's unique style. I especially like the foldings on the clothes of Barrett (the guy in the middle). Those kind of things add very much to a picture, it just looks more realistic.

AkujinRuukasu responds:

Thanks! I agree that I sometimes have a tendency to unintentionally make some faces look identical. This picture was actually done around September 2008. Thanks again for some helpful advice and compliments.
