The guitar in the intro sounds a bit strange, just as if you used the "auto solo" option from some effect board.
But after the intro the guitar starts to sound a lot better. I also like the mixing here. No instrument that stands out too much, everything can be heard fine and even the drums sound pretty good. That's something not many manage to do.
The biggest problem I have with this song are the vocals/lyrics. Sometimes the lines of the lyrics are too long to fit into the rhythm and it ends up sounding a bit strange when you sing them, making the whole song sounding a bit strange.
The style of singing is all right, but neverthelss I think you need a little more practice with the growling.
I really like this song. The guitar and the piano together sound really great. The mood is somewhere between relaxing and almost sad or lonley. This sadness/lonelyness is intensified by the sound effects you added to the song. Especially the rolling thunder creates an image of sadness in my mind.
I like what you created here (have I ever disliked anything you made? I don't think so). I like the combination of 8-bit-sounds together with a nice drum track. I also like the mood of this song. It could be used in various situations. Battles, Towns, Racing games... you name it.
In the intro the song starts rather slow, but it builds up the longer it plays. I always like this in songs...

Haha thanks! I'm surprised you're saying that because you've been reviewing my stuff since 2009 and those songs are so old xP.

Great! I didn't have a particular theme in mind when making the track, which is something that a friend of mine pointed out when I was working on the song, but I guess that just makes the song a little more diverse, which is cool I guess.

Heh, yep I'm a big fan of making progressive intros such as this one. I find it very hard to actually start a song out of nowhere (something which is important for loops), and I always like to give the intro a bit of a progression.
"So yeah, another masterpiece by Supersteph. ;)"
And another great review by Haggard :D. Thanks a lot, I appreciate the review, and thanks for adding me to your favourite artists list as well!
I agree with SCTE3 here, it sounds as if this was recorded in a garage and I really dig this sound. Sounds MUCH better than all those "mastered to the max" studio sounds we get nowadays.
Maybe it's because this sound reminds me a bit of old 70's rock and I really like 70's rock, heh.
I really like this song, everything fits together well here, the guitars, the drums. And even the bass can be heard, which is really a rare thing (sadly).
The vocals are a bit thin though. But your profile says you are only 15, so I guess your voice will develope a bit more when you get older.
Haha, ironically, I'm gonna enter a studio to record some songs there multi-track. As in, I'll "master them to the max" lawl. Glad you liked the song though!
I like the slow build up of this song. It helps to put the listener in the right mood for this piece.
Water can be either calming or be destructive and dangerous. You chose to go for the calming part of the water, which I quite like.
The synths sound pretty good. Maybe they are a tad bit too high pitched, but maybe that's just because I'm listening to this on my netbook, which has shitty speakers.
I also like the length of this piece. I always hate it when a song puts me in a calming mood and then it's over after only 3 minutes or so. This piece is over 8 minutes long, so enough time for me to dive into this nice atmosphere the song creates and to relax for a while.
thanks, before i updated the song the high notes sounded even higher pitch because the EQ on the synth was off. Thanks for the review i appreciate the listen.
Again an interesting song. I like the intro. At first it sounds very muffled as if there went something wrong with the recording, but then the drums and the other instruments set in and we know: Nope, this is supposed to sound like this.
I think this song would really benefit if you can find someone to add lyrics. On some parts the instruments play in a very "set back" way, where a voice would fit really well.
The sound of the drums is a bit weak, imo. Especially later on in the song the drums get almost annoying because of the sound. I'm not an expert on recording drums, but I guess it's a very hard thing to do, so I won't deduct any points for this.
Also the synths don't fit in this song too well. They almost sound like a foreign object. But maybe that's just because I'm not too fond of keyboards in metal. ^^
Thanks for the review :P
I actually wrote lyrics for this song, and I have a mic to record vocals,
BUT, I'm kinda uncomfortable with my voice, so I never got around to it :/
Eventually I started to dislike the song because it didn't have any vocals, so I added to synth to substitute the lack of vocals :/
This is a good submission in the Video Game genre. The beat is very driving and the other instruments create a very "powerful" atmosphere, which is just the right atmo for a song that is supposedly to be used during a fighting sequence.
However, the looping doesn't work too well. The differences between the end and the beginning are very noticeable, so there's still some work to do.
Maybe you could add a few seconds to the end. You have a little "solo" there with one of the instruments (I really couldn't find a better description ^^), I think you could use this as an opportunity to calm the song down a bit, so it fits better to the calmer beginning.
I wasn't happy with the looping either. The long pads at the beginning made it really difficult. Could possibly replace them with something shorter. Thanks for the review!
This piece reminds of some film score, but I can't really say which one.
Anyway, this is a very good submission. I like how this song keeps itself in the background so nicely. This is one of the main criterias for me if I reate soundtracks for a game.
A game without music can get boring very soon (if there's nothing to listen to I tend to get bored quite quickly), but if the game music is so loud that I can't concentrate on the game any longer, then it's not good music. The music has to fit to the game (let's take the Resident Evil series as an example. The music fits perfectly to the games and even the music alone can make you feel uncomfortable).
Now this piece could be used in various genres. Medieval games, RPGs, or adventures. The atmosphere you create with this song is somewhat relaxing, but it also has a certain "Now let's start our mission!"-feeling to it, which I quite like.

Yeah loads of people compare my songs to movie soundtrack. I quite like it :3.

Echo and I aren't that experienced at making background music actually. I'm glad we succeeded over here though!

Very true. I think one of the main reasons why Okami is one of my favourite games is that the soundtrack is just so brilliant and is just right for the game. I don't play Resident Evil much so I can't see if I agree with you about its music, I'm afraid :P.

Yeah, the plains world was actually going to be the first 'level' of the RPG we made this for, so it's good that you mentioned that.
Really happy that you enjoyed the song, and thanks again!
