Kraftwerk

The very first intro sound really reminds me of Kraftwerk, heh. I was almost surprised when I didn't hear the "Expo 2000" jingle after that.

Anyway, the song manages to create a pretty good atmosphere. Almost like I'm driving on a very long Autobahn (oh, Kraftwerk again? If you don't listen to them, I advise you to do so. ^^).

I didn't like the small interlude of the organ at around 1:17. It doesn't really fit into the song, in my opinion. Maybe you could replace that part with a different one?

Lol, that happens to be the only part of the composition I actually like, but its good to get someone else's perspective on it !!

thanks a bunch for the review

Melancholic

I don't recognize the intro, so no cookie for me, I guess. :(

I like the atmopshere the song creates. It's a bit sad but yet not so sad that you think "now all hope is lost". Instead it has some positive undertone, when the melody sets in at about 1:29.

However, I think the title doesn't really fit here. Because when I'm listening to this song, I don't have "memoires of better times" in mind. Memories, yes. But more like melancholic memories.

Anyway, the song still is very nice!

Good song

Well, as I'm not a big fan of the Zelda games I am unfamiliar with the Ice Cavern theme. So my first thought was more like "Phantom Train" (FF VI), even though this song doesn't sound anything like it, haha.

Anyway, I like how this song slowly developes. It starts off really slow and even a bit strange sometimes (the bendings during the intro sound a bit off at first), but slowly the song picks up and developes into a very nice arrangement, with soli here and there, distorted guitars and more. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what we could hear in the intro, but yet everything fits very well together.

However, I think the guitars should be a bit louder. But on the other hand, if you do make them louder, they could easily overpower the other instruments towards the end of the song...

Good song

I see, the 0-bombers have done their dirty work on this song. A score of 1.32 (that's what it was before I upvoted the song to 1.80. Still much too low) just isn't justified. This is a very nice song. I'm not sure if "Heavy Metal" is the right genre for it, but on the other hand, I don't know where else this submission could fit in.

Anyway, the title fits pretty good to the song. The main melody creates a very nice atmosphere, that feels a bit "spacey". As if I was looking up into the night sky, seeing all those stars.

I think the distorted guitars are a tad bit too quiet when they play. They are barely noticable when they set it, which is a shame.

The little solo during the middle of the song is very nice and it fits pretty good into the song. I think one of the hardest thing is to write a solo that actually fits into the song. In the metal genre there are lots of nice soli, but most of the time they serve no real purpose. Here, the solo is a very good addition to the song. Good work!

Stargenx responds:

Thanks for the review! I wasn't sure where to put it either, so I put it in heavy metal because the song has a lot of guitars in it. I'll see if I can boost the distorted guitar a bit for you, the mix sounded decent on my monitors, but I'll tweak it a bit!

Interesting

This wasn't what I expected to hear when I read "Ambient" in the genre. But it's a good thing that you are trying something new here.

I'm not entirely sure if I like this piece or not, but it definitely is interesting to listen to. The sharp syntheziser noises can get annoying after a while, so you should be careful with using them if you progress this song any further. I think they work quite well for the intro, however.

I like what you've done with the outro for this short piece. You could use that in the real song as well. Either as an outro or maybe as a cross over to another part of the song.

Sounds nice so far

Since I don't know too much about DnB I cannot really tell you how you should progress with this song. But I can tell you that I really like what you have done so far. I really like the bassy Bass Drum in the intro, it sounds really cool. You should definitely use that again later in the song.

I'm unsure about the glitchy effects towards the end of this WIP. They aren't really fitting there, so I think you should leave them out.

Nice song

I haven't heard the original music in the firework display, so I cannot really tell what you have remixed and what was already present in the orignal work. But nevertheless, this song sounds pretty awesome.

I like that this song is so diverse. It starts off really powerful, but then takes it's time and goes quiet for a bit, maybe so that more beautiful and "slower" fireworks can be displayed.

The song then becomes quite powerful again at around the 5 minute mark, so this might be where the pace of the firework picks up again.

This is a pretty cool song and even though I cannot say what is your work on this remix, I praise you for chosing to remix this song in the first place. :)

Thanks for this, this review really made my day. I put a lot of time and effort into this song and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. The entire firework display is on my home page here on Newgrounds, Thanks again!!

Good

This indeed is a very chill loop. I like the calmness this song creates. It's very pleasent to listen to it while doing something else. Helps you to stay calm yourself.

I can imagine hearing this in a stealth type video game, like Splinter Cell or the Metal Gear series. It would surely help me as a player to act more careful.

But at the same time, this song has something very eerie to it, I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the deep tunes you used in this song. But this eerieness is something I also like about this track, as it does indeed add a very "spy-like" atmosphere to it.

Nice beat

Pretty nice beat. I think this can be used by some rappers to rap along to it. I like the melody in the background very much. It's very catchy and has the tendency to get stuck in ones head for a long time.

I also like the intro. The "bleding over" effect is done in a very nice way. Going from "sounds like an old LP playing" (with scratchy noises!) to something way more bassy.

However, the "scratchy" effect (or whatever it is) is also present later on in the track. I think it doesn't really fit there and it gets pretty annoying towards the end, especially when listening with headphones.

BuggMusic responds:

Thanks for the review! I achieved the vinyl effect with a free VST by iZotope. I didn't turn it off after the intro because it honestly didn't occur to me that it wouldn't suit the rest of the track, sorry about that.
