Hi, Barry Scott here asking whether you have problems with limescale, rust, ground in dirt. Bit of a challenge for some house hold cleaners, but not, for CILLIT BANG!

Well, the sound quality seems to be a bit low (or is it just my shitty speakers? Could be...), but this doesn't hurt the song too much as the technical quality of the song is very nice.
The intro reminded me of some song from Oasis ("Wonderwall" to be exact) and it does sound very nice.
The vocals are pretty good as well. Sometimes on the higher notes it doesn't sound that fitting, but the verses are sung in a very good way and I wanted to sing along... too bad I don't know the words, though. ^^
The story to this song is very interesting and I think this would be a good story for a music video to this song as well. At least I had some images in my mind while listening to this song that where very "music video" like.

I like the amtosphere this song creates. It's somewhere between "spacey" and "very relaxing".
The mix between ambient and Drum N Bass is still very interesting and it fits amazingly well in this song. While you go a bit crazy with the DnB elements the Ambient elements always sound very smooth, which creates a very nice contrast.
This keeps the listener interested and it also makes the song sound very unpredictable.

A very nice track. I like the relativly slow start with only the drums for the first few bars.
The melodies sound a bit too hectic sometimes (for example from 0:27 to 0:40), so you might want to work on that a bit.
But overall the song is very nice and you manage to create a very nice atmosphere with this song. I think I have to plug in my NES and play some old games now. ^^

Well, it's very hard to review this because of the sound quality. Just everything was hard to make out. The beat and the vocals.
But let's start from the beginning. You should edit out the first few seconds as there can be nothing heard except for some nasty static sounds. It's okay if there are a few seconds of silence before the song starts, but those cracking noises are just annoying.
Then, everything needs to be louder or even better recorded at a better quality. Everything sounds as if you had put the mic underneath a cussion or something.
The rapping itself could also use some improvements. You should try to time the verses better with the background beat and you should try to time the lines better with your breathing. Sometimes you had some pauses to catch some breath, but they didn't really fit there where you had them.
Also on one occasion it sounded as if you forgot the text and just mumbled something to cover that up.
I'm sorry that I can't be more positive about that track, but as I've said in the beginning, it's hard to review it because of the low sound quality.
Author's Response:
yeah, well this was made up on the spot.. and yeah its crap quality i'll get a new mic soon

It's a nice song. If you let this play in the background without paying too much attention to it, it really does sound like one of those happy "summer hits" you can hear on all radio stations.
But if you listen carefully to the lyrics the song turns out to be quite funy and sarcastic/sadistic.
I don't like the effect on the voice too much, but it does server well in creating this "happy song"-atmosphere.

I'm glad that the happy feel came across, it's exactly what i was going for along with it being sadistic. Crazy guy that doesn't think he's crazy sort of thing. I don't think i'll be using that autotuning effect much more in the future. It was a fun little toy to play around with while the trial lasted, but i agree that it can sometimes take away from the music as well. Thanks very much for the review!

A nice song, but I think the drums should be a bit more powerful. Especially the cymbal/hi hat sounds a bit strange.
But other than that the song sounds very nice and has a good beat along with nice melodies.
Also the progression of the song is very nice. It starts off very slow, but new things are added constantly, which keeps the listener interested in the song.
I think the outro is a bit of a let down, I think it would work better if you just ended on a single beat without the slight fade you have added there.

A nice remix. I just listened to the original on youtube (at least I think it was the original) and your remix indeed does sound very different.
The beginning is a bit generic, but after about 16 seconds you set in with your own melodies and instruments. This is also the point at which the song does get a lot less generic.
I like the melodies in this song, they are very catchy. And I also like the glitched part of the song. It sounds very nice and also prevents the song from getting too repettive (which usually is the main problem I have with Techno/Trance songs).
So very nice work on that part.
While vocals are always nice I don't like them too much in this song. Well, they are a nice addition here as well, but the voice doesn't sound that good to me.
Ah well, overall the song is still nicer with vocals than without. ;)
Author's Response:
Haha.
The hidden thing in this song is the unique layout and stuff after the first 16 seconds. The glitch was the main turnover, makes you think that you just got raped by transitions. I tried my best to keep the generic feeling to a minimum.
The vocals are actually what makes this a remix. Without said vocals, this would be nothing but a hopefully original song.
Thanks for the review!

I'm a huge fan of audio dramas (or "full cast audio dramas", I think that description suits it better) and I've listened to a lot of them. Mostly german audio dramas as I am from germany, but a few english audio dramas as well (like Orson Welles' "War of the worlds" or some old series like "The Lineup").
And I have to say, you do a very good job with this audio log. The story is a bit vague, but you acting during the log is very good.
You also have a very good pronounciation, it is very easy to understand what you are saying, which of course is a big plus in a voice acting submission. Too bad the volume is so low. If you are recording this with Audacity you might want to turn up the recording volume a bit after you pressed the "record" button. I found out that for some reason Audacity doesn't recognize my changes if I turned up the volume before I press "record", so I always have to do that afterwards.

The songs starts off very slowly and almost cold (just like winter :) ) but then after 52 seconds into the song the "spring" starts. Slowly other instruments set in, the nature wakes up again, birds come back from the south and start singing again, it gets warmer outside.
At around 1:44 into the song we can hear a noise that sounds like crickets. The days are getting longer and it still gets warmer outside. There are also sounds in the song that remind me of an iceman ringing the bell of his car. People gather around that car to buy the first ice cream of the summer.
At the 4 minute mark I imagine the beginning of late summer or maybe summer holidays, which are a bit earlier than late summer. There are still quite a few cricket sounds. And somehow I connect those sounds with summer holidays. Friends are sitting on a hayfield in the evening and the crickets are chirping... .
Anyway, around the 5 minute mark the nice build up of the song is over, it starts to get colder again. A short fall quickly changes over into a cold winter.
This are the images that came to my mind while listening to this song. Maybe the build up is a bit too long, but I like how subtle it is. At first I didn't even realize the song build up until suddendly the build up was over at around the 5 minute mark.
Nice job!

Yeah, I don't have a boat plus it's pretty cold here now, so I wouldn't want to drift by the coast right now anyway. But this song still sounds very nice and amazingly smooth here at home. :)
The only suggestion I can give is to make this longer. Or maybe you could just try to let the whole song loop.

Author's Response:
That's great! Now just imagine how awesome it would be on a boat ;)
I'm a bit opposed to looping songs, cause people usually don't listen to music in a loop like that.
Thanks much for the review!
