It's a nice piece you have here. I really like the piano and you play it a very nice way. I really like the melody of this song and I think it's WAY better than the original (I just listened to a few versions of this song, don't know which one was the original... but your interpretation is WAY better anyway ;) ).

Hi Haggard! Thanks for the review, and for taking the time to listen to my cover, and other versions.

It means a lot that you prefer this one. Thanks again!

This sounds very strange and random, yet so damn cool at the same time. I really like the saz here, it fits into this song absolutely perfectly.

The drums are very nice as well. Very nice bassy sound. Together with the other instruments the drums create a very "Egypt" like atmosphere, which I really enjoyed.

The only thing you should think about changing is that "ringing sound" in the background. We can hear it when the track starts and almost throughout the entire song. It gets really annoying after a while.

You must mean the delay on the bell synth. Originally, that part is only six notes each measure, I already got rid of the delay in an updated version. You should go listen to the original water temple theme from the game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Well, I don't know the opening music of OoT, but I like the sound of the Saz(e)s very much. I also like the background "humming" you created with the keyboard. It adds a very nice atmosphere to the song.

Since this is in the "Video Game" category, I tried to think of games where this music could fit in. But I could only thing of games that take place in the orient, where the Saz(e)s fit perfectly. Sadly, a Saz doesn't seem to fit anywhere else (it just isn't a common instrument in western cultures...).

But that doesn't mean that this song is bad. It's just that it needs a very special setting to fit into a video game. But on the other hand: Does this song really need to be in a video game? Certainly not. Why not just listen to it here in the Audio Portal and enjoy it without any video game? :)

A pretty catchy tune with a very joyful atmosphere. I don't know if it fits for Little Big Planet, but it definitely would fit in a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. And I don't mean this as a bad thing. Think of games like Kirby or some cool fighting game like Marvel vs. Capcom.

I also like the 8-bit-like melodies in the background. They really add a nice touch to the song.

Thank you for detailed review! But you told about good aspects only, and nothing about something bad in that tune, but vote 4, I want to know my mistakes =)

I like the rhythm of this song very much. It's a very driving beat and I can imagine listening to something like this while driving through the city at night. I also like the mixing of this song. Every instrument can be clearly heard, even when there are more instruments playing at the same time.

I don't like the sound of the Saxophone too much, though. First of all, it sounds too artificial to me. Also, I don't like the sounds of Saxophones in general.

But overall, it is a very good song. It is very diversified. It never gets boring in the almost 6 minutes it plays, and that's something that isn't easy to achieve.

This is a really strange song. But luckily "strange" doesn't mean "bad" at all. This song is strange, but it does have certain appeal. The melodies sound pretty good, for example. Also, the drums toward the end of the song are very bassy, which also does sound good.

What makes this song so strange is the rhythm. It seems to be really out of place, but somehow everything DOES fit in the end. And this is what makes this song so unique.

Thanks for the review, and yes it is strange. The rhythm is weird, I understand, but I was just trying things out. "unique" is my style, I guess :P

Thanks
Benny

This song is very nice. I like that it is so quiet and calm. It keeps itself very nicely in the background. So it could be used as a background music in emotional scenes, like the departure of two friends, or similar scenes.

I especially like the combination of the deeper background melody and the main melody with the higher notes... those kind of songs are the reason why I like the piano so much. :)

Thank you for the review, I'm glad you enjoyed it! =)

Hm, the main melody of this song sounds strangely familiar, but I cannot remember where I might have heard this before.

Anyway, the song is very nice. The simple main melody catches the listener right from the start. It seems as if the first few notes kind of invite the listener to keep on listening. At least that what happened to me. I thought "Miscellaneous? Most of the time those submissions aren't really good... wait, what's that? Sounds nice..." and now I listened to the whole song, heh.

I also like the "tremolo"-like melody that sets in at around 00:46. Together with the main melody it creates a very nice atmosphere. I was thinking of some mafia movies like "The Godfather" when I listened to this song.

Typical "american punk" like Blink 182. Not really the kind of punk I like, but this song is indeed pretty good.

I like the voice here, it sounds nice. Especially towards the end of the song, where the singer starts "screaming" a bit and the song becomes a bit heavier.

Overall, this is a good song. Some simple guitar riffs, that get stuck in your head, a good singing voice and a good recording quality. Not much to complain about, except for personal tastes. But "personal taste" shouldn't be reflected in the review score too much. ^^

TheseDudes responds:

Very appreciated! I know this kind of music isn't really for everyone. The last bit of the song is my favorite part too. Hopefully we can steer ourselves away from being immediately grouped into the "Blink-182 punk" style in the future!

The song is a bit short, but it creates a very nice "fairytale like" atmosphere nevertheless. I like the strings here a lot. They remind me a bit of the music from "Braid" (a game available on XBL or PSN), which had pretty awesome music.

The only advice I can give you here is to make this song a bit longer. ;)

Thanks for the review, Haggard. The piece is just a quick menu piece that goes over the motif used in the game.
