Nice

A very good track. Very relaxing and quiet, but on the other hand also very "promising" in terms of the story you wrote in the comments section. I think this track isn't only relaxing, but it also gives a small preview on the things that might happen in the future, when the story continues.

I thought I was really nice listening to the track while reading the story. It is very fitting during the first half of the story. In the second half, when they reached their destination point it isn't so fitting anymore. I think a more mysterious atmosphere would fit better there.

Anyway, overall this is again a very good song!

Some tracks are overall themes, some tracks are on the timer.

Amazing

A very good song. With your comments to the song you set just the right mood you have to be in to listen to this song.

I can easily imagine this being used in a flash video for a chasing scene. Listening to this song and imagine a chasing scene reminds me a bit of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (for whatever reason. I think the mood I had after watching this movie is the same I have while listening to the final parts of this song) and "Metropolis" (the pounding sounds remind me of the big machineries seen in this movie).

A great song that creates a very dystopian/anti-utopian atmosphere. Great work!

Craxmilian responds:

And I also find it a bit depressive or dystopian as you say, like nothing good awaits us behind the nearest corner or so... * brain error occured*

I've never had as much visual imagination as some people, even orienting in maps is problematic - but who cares - music works well anytime.

And so I'm really happy that you enjoyed listening to it as much as I enjoyed those long nights spent on this thing :)

Same thing I said on the review for "Shit Injection" holds true here as well. The instruments and this time even the voice are much too quiet.
If you want to be "hardcore" you could at least do some "hardcore" recording so we can at least hear something.

The only thing that was loud enough was the scream at the end, so maybe you should turn up the recording volume for the rest of the track as well.

BlackTurds2010 responds:

I can't make it more hardcore than this...

My speakers suck for mixing...

You are not the same ones that did the infamous "Jason" tracks by any chance?

Anyway, this song needs a lot more work. The instruments are too quiet. I mean, this is a fucking metal song and we can't hear the instruments? Something needs to be done about this.

The vocals aren't that good either. If you decide to growl the lyrics you should try a bit harder. Right now it sounds too "noobish", in my opinion.
I know, it's not easy to growl and after some time your vocal cords begin to hurt, but it's all a matter of practice (there are actually videos on youtube that can give you useful tips).

This song is a good start - and the idea of a "shit injection" sure is something new - but there's still a lot of room for improvement.

I can't help it dude. My speakers BLOW. I have a decent ear and I can't mix anything correctly with these speakers.

Generic metal still sounds great to me. Especially since we don't get too many requests in the RRC that are metal. ^^

The drums need some more work here. Sometimes they sound out of tact and they definitely sound much too weak compared to the heavy guitars.
The main riffs sound very good, I was instantly moving my head to this. ^^

The short stops during the middle of the song sound a bit weird, nearly like you forgot how to continue the song, heh.
Anyway, it's still "WIP" so if you decide to continue working on this song I hope you can fix the stops (ie make them sound better).

leopapitas responds:

Hahaha thanks! Yeah, originally, this wasn't going to be a song, I just tabbed the riffs on guitarpro and ended up putting some drums and stuff, and turned out to be like this hahaha. I still don't know whether to finish this or not, I haven't gotten many ideas lately :/ But hopefully I'll be able to finish it one of these days. I'll see what I can do with the stops (?) Although I'm not very sure to what pauses you refer to. Would you mind sending me a PM telling me in what minute/second those 'stops' are in? (: Thanks for the review man n.n Stay metal (:

Generic, all right

Yep, this definitely is generic and it almost represents everything I don't like about trance music, lol.

Seriously though, even though this song is overly generic it has it's good parts as well. The sidechaining makes this song a bit less generic and the effect is really interesting.

I know this is labeled as a Loop, but it doesn't loop too well and there's no clear intro and no real outro for this song/loop, which is a pity. Because right now it's neither fish nor fowl (or rather "neither song nor loop" ;) ).

Mans0n responds:

thanks i guess

Good, but generic

The intro is a bit unusual for a song labeled as "General Rock", but you have to go some new ways to really stand out from the masses, I guess.

Anyway, after the intro follows a good sounding, but unfortunatly very generic rock song. Especially the drums could use some more work in my opinion as it gets very repetitive towards the end.

The guitar and bass play some very nice stuff during the song (especially towards the end) but the main riff sounds as if I had listened to this song a thousand times before.

Overall the song is nice and a lot better than 90% of the songs that are played by radio stations, but that doesn't prevent it from being generic.

PS: Is it just me or is there a slight timing issue at 0:34/0:35?

Thanks for reviewing after my request! I see that the main point of your review is innovation, which I think it's an awesome thing! I'll try new things as I can. Thanks again, Haggard! And yes, it is a timing issue.

Good atmo, needs some polishing

This track builds up a very nice atmosphere from time to time. It is kind of destroyed by the uneven tempo and unsteady beat.
But as this was just some random jamming it is understandable that not everything is perfectly in tact.

Also the low sound quality is another issue you need to iron out.

I think you shouldn't cut out the coughing. It sounds really funny how it suddendly appears in the middle of the song. :D

Monkeydelic responds:

Thanks for the review :)

The tempo is something i'll easily fix with a click track, and i now have access to some better recording equipment, so check and check hehe.

thanks again.

A tad bit faster...

The song sounds really nice. I like the melodies and the drums here. But in my opinion it could be a tad bit faster. Not much faster and no higher pitch or something like that, just this tiny bit faster... I think it would sound better.

However, the song of course isn't bad the way it is now. The melodies get stuck in the head really quickly and I found myself humming along to it the second time I listened to the song. Nice work!

Birdinator99 responds:

Yea, I plan on doing faster songs in the near future, so don't worry about that. I'm glad it got stuck in your head though :D

Thanks for listening!

Good

The meldoies are great here, I really like listening to them. The drums could use some more work, they get very repetitive towards the end. Maybe just a slight change in the pattern the drums play would already do the trick.

I think the transition at 0:44 works quite well. It's nothing too fancy, but it helps to keep the listener interested in the song. It's like "oh, something is happening there". Even if it is only a short break, in my opinion those breaks help to make a song less repetitive. :)

Step responds:

Thanks for the review, Haggard!

Problem with the transition at 0:44 is it sort of ends a bit too abruptly.

Yeah I know, the drums really do suck :(. I'll probably completely redo them when I have the time.

Glad you like the melodies, that's probably what stands out the most in the submission. My second time in a major scale :3.

Thanks again for the great review!
