It's always funny to watch old flashes from still active (well, more or less active :P ) flash artists. That way one often can see how much the artist has improved over the time.

You have greatly improved from here, I'd say. In this flash, everything looks quite basic. Simple graphics, no character movement at all (except for those few tweens of course) and little to no sounds except for the voice acting.

A few things haven't changed, however. The voice acting already was very good and the humor is great, too. Especially that small text at the end of the flash sums up the whole thing pretty nice :D .

It's not as funny as watching my flashes from mid 2006, though.

That was below average, I have to say. First of all, try sticking to one theme, either use sprites OR use a handdrawn character. Not both, as it can be quite confusing and it really doesn't look that good.
It got even worse when you had the sprite of Godzilla and drew that arm on him. This looked very bad; you should instead try to manipulate the sprite to make it look like he's moving his arms.

The graphics could use a clean up. All the backgrounds are missing details, such as trees or clouds. A bit depth would also be a good addition to the landscape.

The sounds also need some work. While the use of Godzillas screaming was a good idea I missed other sounds. When he was destroying the buildings nothing could be heard.
Voice acting would be good. Speech bubbles nearly always look quite bad.

The story was very random, this too needs some work. I mean, the scene with the gun didn't really fit in there. And what was Godzilla doing in those 5 years? Did he try to commit suicide again? Was he just standing around there all the time? And why does he suddendly decide to destroy the city? Just because he was bored?
Well, as I've said, you should try and work on that script.

Rather short but very funny flash. The backgrounds need some more work (a little detail here, a little detail there... like shadows on the wall, or some furniture).

Again, the voice acting was good, especially BlueHippo's part was done very great (btw. I love the "HIGHLIGHT HIM ->" message, every time BH appears ^^).

The punchline of this flash was hilarious. Somehow exploding heads are ALWAYS hilarious... oh well ^^.

However, I think that the part where you read the ban message took a bit too long. You should have just mumbled the "you have been banned for X days and you still have Y days left" part and then just reading the message from BlueHippo aloud.

If I did cut out the ban reading part, the flash would have been even shorter and I would have got more complaints about the length.

The stories are very simple and short (that's why it's called "shorts" I guess ;) ) but they were funny.

The voice acting was done great, but the sound was lacking some quality. Every now and then it cracked and buzzed, so you should try to work on that. Maybe a better mic would help here, or you could try to use a different program to record the voices.

The graphics are okay, even though I did miss the arms of the characters most of the time. I think it would look much better, if they had arms all the time, not just when they need them.

That really WAS random!

I liked your way of animating this. Everything was really smooth and the movement of the characters were good, too.

Although the graphics were quite simple, I still liked them, as you draw everything in a very nice way.

You should add a prealoader, I had to pause the movie and let it finish loading to be able to view it without any interrupts.

The graphics are decent, but there's still room for improvement. Try to draw your characters without the use of simple geometric forms. Circles for heads and rectangles for legs may work in South Park, but here they appear out of place.
I liked how you made the genie transparent. That worked out very well.

The voice acting was ok, even though the should be much louder then they are now. What I liked here was the fact that you had those low TV noises in there, that really added a lot to the flash.

What bothered me the most with this flash is, that it always takes quite some time for the scene changes. For example, when the genie says: "Pass the bong" it takes the second character a few seconds to react. Ok, he's stoned and in real life he would take serveral MINUTES to react at all ;), but here it seems pretty boring as just nothing happens on the screen for a few seconds before every scene change.

Everything here looks like a "beta version" to me, but don't worry, I'll try to explain:

First thing I noticed were the mouthes. While the lip syncing is done very good the mouthes or rather the lips looked too big. Also, the teeth were visible a tad bit to often for my taste. But I can imagine that it is really hard to animate mouthes in a way that it still looks realistic.

Second thing I noticed were the movements of the characters. Even though they look good on first glance they seem to be too slow. When the boy opened the window it took him quite some time to open it and to close it again. In "real life" this would happen much quicker than here.

Ok, now to the good things:

I liked the flash as a whole. The drawings are very clean and you also took the time to add some very nice details, like the mouse running through the appartement in that "vision of the horrible future" and the backgrounds looked quite nice, too.

The best point in this flash is the very good voice acting. The grandma, the boy and the fairy all had their own characteristic voice and all were very easy to understand.

The story of this flash is funny and somehow a little twisted. "Being a homeless looks like great fun!" No wonder that the fairy gave up on that boy :D

Thanks for the review, this was another very helpful one. I'm sure my friends will love the fact that you liked the voice acting the best, although it's a bit depressing for me as an artist. I'll work on the pacing of the movie, and I plan on setting my flashes at a higher frame rate too, hopefully that'll help.

Wow, great flash! The story is very interesting and original. I am glad that the 'CandyHolics' did complete their objective, even though they beat up that kid in the ghost costume ^^.

The menu was very good. It's always nice to have a scene selection, this way it's easier to watch the favorite parts again. I also liked that you had your own mouse pointer. Most flash artist don't make use of that possibility; you did. It's not a big deal, but even the smallest things can help to let your movie stand out from the rest of the portal.

The graphics are amazing, you put a lot of details in the characters and also in the backgrounds. I also liked that you used many well known characters in your flash. Cameos are always a nice thing ^^.

Sadly, the quality of the sound wasn't that great. Sometimes the voices were hard to understand. At least you had subtitles so that one can still follow the story without problems.

I really appreciate the review. And to comment on my custom cursor even though I created one, it just wasn't visual pleasing which was a downside to it.

Thanks.

I like how you always put some funny stuff in the background, like Afro_Stud floating by and of course Edgar and Locke headbanging in front of the window.

Voice acting was once again very good, no complaints here. I just missed some of the humor in there.
Well, the stuff happening in the background and your comparison to Kenny and Scratchy are quite funny, but somehow it's just not enough for my taste...

Anways, this is a decent movie that continues your christmas flashes in a nice way!

It's a nice idea of turning the movie upside down. I may watch this again, flipping the screen upside down (some graphics cards can do that, so I don't have to turn my monitor upside down ;) ) and watching the characters fall towards the sky...

Oh, and LOL @ Afro_Stud! If he had a better wig it wouldn't fall off! :P

kinggila responds:

Yeah, a wig that isn't an afro hair. ;)
