Why so short?

Well, the bass is nice, but the track is only two seconds long. I'm sure you can do better than this...

Including this loop anywhere is almost impossible, since it would get annoying very quickly. The only suggestion I can give you is to make this track a lot longer (about 10 times longer ;) ).

Good loop

When the song first started I immediatly thought of the Resident Evil soundtrack. I think its the strings in the background, because they create a very dense and almost frightening atmosphere.
However, the rest of the instruments give this piece a more sad, tragic touch. Just like you wanted the piece to sound like. I listened to this loop while I was reading your description and I think it fits really well.

However, I think the flutes could be a bit louder. They are nearly drowned out by the other instruments, which is really a pity.

MeteorManMike responds:

That's great that it fits my description. I often compose my music with the specific scene in mind.

When I turn up the flutes, they kind of take over the composition, you can't hear anything else. I love intricate supporting parts, having been one myself for a time, when I was in band.

Thanks for the review!

What the hell am I doing here?

I don't belong here...

Very nice cover of a very nice song. I am a big Radiohead fan and while the songs on "Pablo Honey" have not much to do with what they are doing now I think "Creep" is still one of their best songs.
I also always liked the piano very much. It's such a great instrument that can create just about every atmosphere you want (without using any special effects!). I really wish I could play the piano, lol.

The only thing that is missing here is some vocales. But anyway, piano + creep = awesome! :D

Thanks so much Haggard! it means a lot, thanks for thaking the time to listen and review!

Very ambient indeed

At first I thought this was a silent track, until I heard that laughter. Then I had the idea to turn up the volume and whoa, a track was there!
No, this is no demand to make this song louder because I actually like the "quietness" of this piece. It creates a very creepy atmosphere, the mad laughing only intesifies this "creepiness".

I don't like the small pauses you sometimes have in the rain effect. It kind of destroys the nice atmo you created in the first part of the song.

Oh: The drums sound pretty cool to me, because they are so "distant", only an idea of drums in the background of the song... nice. ;)

Wonderchild responds:

Hahah, thanks.
This is still a work in progress, so I'll probably get around to fixing the rain/thunder FX soon, thanks.

The guitar in the intro sounds a bit strange, just as if you used the "auto solo" option from some effect board.
But after the intro the guitar starts to sound a lot better. I also like the mixing here. No instrument that stands out too much, everything can be heard fine and even the drums sound pretty good. That's something not many manage to do.

The biggest problem I have with this song are the vocals/lyrics. Sometimes the lines of the lyrics are too long to fit into the rhythm and it ends up sounding a bit strange when you sing them, making the whole song sounding a bit strange.
The style of singing is all right, but neverthelss I think you need a little more practice with the growling.

Jeffaro responds:

Yeah. I like a couple riffs in this song like the slow chugging riffage. And I do agree that the vocals suck. I agree with everything you've said.

Thanks for the review.

Cool and creepy at the same time

0This is a very cool song. I like the groovy start of the loop, it sounds really awesome. I like the build up of the song. Starting with only one instrument and introducing more and more instruments the longer the song goes.

The song gets even more awesome when you introduce the pipe organ and the creepy background noises. Now the "cool" atmosphere of the first half of the song is completly gone and it's been replaced by an atmosphere that can send shivers down your spine.

If that was in a game the level could start out all easy and friendly and then when you enter a cave/house/etc the creepy part of the song could start. Would be a very cool effect. :)

A little masterpiece

I really like this song. The guitar and the piano together sound really great. The mood is somewhere between relaxing and almost sad or lonley. This sadness/lonelyness is intensified by the sound effects you added to the song. Especially the rolling thunder creates an image of sadness in my mind.

Really good song!

I like rain, but only when I'm not getting rained on.

Another great song...

I like what you created here (have I ever disliked anything you made? I don't think so). I like the combination of 8-bit-sounds together with a nice drum track. I also like the mood of this song. It could be used in various situations. Battles, Towns, Racing games... you name it.

In the intro the song starts rather slow, but it builds up the longer it plays. I always like this in songs...

So yeah, another masterpiece by Supersteph. ;)

Thanks for dropping a review, Haggard!

"I like what you created here (have I ever disliked anything you made? I don't think so)."

Haha thanks! I'm surprised you're saying that because you've been reviewing my stuff since 2009 and those songs are so old xP.

"I like the combination of 8-bit-sounds together with a nice drum track. I also like the mood of this song. It could be used in various situations. Battles, Towns, Racing games... you name it."

Great! I didn't have a particular theme in mind when making the track, which is something that a friend of mine pointed out when I was working on the song, but I guess that just makes the song a little more diverse, which is cool I guess.

"In the intro the song starts rather slow, but it builds up the longer it plays. I always like this in songs..."

Heh, yep I'm a big fan of making progressive intros such as this one. I find it very hard to actually start a song out of nowhere (something which is important for loops), and I always like to give the intro a bit of a progression.

"So yeah, another masterpiece by Supersteph. ;)"

And another great review by Haggard :D. Thanks a lot, I appreciate the review, and thanks for adding me to your favourite artists list as well!

Good song

I agree with SCTE3 here, it sounds as if this was recorded in a garage and I really dig this sound. Sounds MUCH better than all those "mastered to the max" studio sounds we get nowadays.
Maybe it's because this sound reminds me a bit of old 70's rock and I really like 70's rock, heh.

I really like this song, everything fits together well here, the guitars, the drums. And even the bass can be heard, which is really a rare thing (sadly).
The vocals are a bit thin though. But your profile says you are only 15, so I guess your voice will develope a bit more when you get older.

Sawdust responds:

Thanks a lot man.

Haha, ironically, I'm gonna enter a studio to record some songs there multi-track. As in, I'll "master them to the max" lawl. Glad you liked the song though!

Good song

I like the slow build up of this song. It helps to put the listener in the right mood for this piece.

Water can be either calming or be destructive and dangerous. You chose to go for the calming part of the water, which I quite like.

The synths sound pretty good. Maybe they are a tad bit too high pitched, but maybe that's just because I'm listening to this on my netbook, which has shitty speakers.

I also like the length of this piece. I always hate it when a song puts me in a calming mood and then it's over after only 3 minutes or so. This piece is over 8 minutes long, so enough time for me to dive into this nice atmosphere the song creates and to relax for a while.

joethesouleater responds:

thanks, before i updated the song the high notes sounded even higher pitch because the EQ on the synth was off. Thanks for the review i appreciate the listen.
