Nice

This is a good little game to play while you are on a break or need to kill some time. However, since this is only a demo there are some things missing.

More variations in attacks would be a pretty cool thing to have, not only "normal attack" and "speed attack" (which misses more often than it hits).
Also, some kind of save feature would be very nice to have, so you don't have to beat the game in one sitting.

I liked that I at least could keep my coins when I had to restart at battle 1, so I racked up about 200 coins and upgraded my character in the very first battle. In the end I could kill the boss with only one hit, which was very satisfying after I spend a good 20 minutes clicking around in the game.

Overall, this is a decent game, but I sure hope the full version has a bit more to offer.

Basic player

There are a few "Jukeboxes" in the flash portal already, so the idea is not too new, but I still like messing around with those jukeboxes.

Yours doesn't have a lot of interactivity, only the basic functions of playing a song, playing a random song and playing "next" previous" songs. But really, what else could you do with a program like this. Maybe searching for song titles, but such a feature would be very hard to implement. As far as I know not even Newgrounds offers such a feature.
Another idea would be: only browsing songs of a specific genre. But this could be very hard to implement as well.

Anyway, I like the "get it" button a lot. It brings me straight to the submission I'm listening to right now, so that's a pretty cool thing.
I also like that the "previous" and "next" buttons skip those song-ids that don't exist (ie where the song has been deleted).

Overall, it's a very basic music player and a very basic submission. But it's fun to play around with it.

I've been having trouble finding them. I know there's NG radio and NG desktop radio. Could you possibly send me a PM telling me where to find them?

"Song Titles ... Genre"
That would be very hard indeed. It would require the player to actually read the website.

Glad you enjoyed the device, Thanks for reviewing.

Hmmm

I really don't know what this is all about. So if your goal was to confuse the viewers, then you have accomplished it.

Anyway, the graphics are pretty good. Even though this is mostly in dark colours it looks very good overall. I also like the animations on the girl, like the hair blowing in the wind and the clothes as well. I also liked how the scenery changed from time to time.
But after clicking for about 2 or 3 minutes and not getting anywhere I quit the flash. Was there supposed to happen something else? If so, I must have missed it. :(

There are exactly two things that are interactive.
The girl and something else.

Thanks for the feedback. =)

Good but could be better

The game can keep you entertained for a while, which is a good thing. But there are many tiny things that annoy me, which make the game less enjoyable for me.

- The music gets annoying very fast. A mute button would be a good thing, or maybe different tracks to choose from.
- The background gets boring very quickly, as there is nothing to look at.
- Highly subjective, but that "smiley face" is annoying to look at. But on the other hand, what else could you have chosen as a "character" for this game? I really don't know. I just thought I point out I don't like that smiley face. ^^

Well, the review seems to be very negative now, but the game IS enjoyable and challenging without being overly unfair or punishing the player too hard.

Thanks, i will definetly pay more attention to it in my next projects :P

Tbh, i wasn't thinking about making it into a game at all.
at first, it was just to learn action script and practice, but i made a few different levels, some trouble shooting and bam! ^^

Background needs work

It's the same problem as with the pre-version of this game: The background makes it difficult to see what's going on. The platforms almost vanish and it's very hard to see the enemies shots.

However, the issue with "sticking to the ceiling" didn't occur here, so it's a good thing you found a way to get rid of that bug.

Overall, the game still can be worthwhile, but I think you should work on the backgrounds (or rather the colouring scheme of the plattforms) a bit.

shrimpchris responds:

I'll be sure to work on more visible platforms in the future!

Glitchy

The good thing is that I can see that you really tried to create something that is fun to play and didn't submit some half-assed finished flash. Ok, this isn't really finished, since it has a "V1.2" in the title, but I can tell you put some effort into it.

The controls work quite well, even though I would appreciate it if I could map the controls myself. For me the Y and Z key are switched, so it's very inconvenient to press Z for jump and X for shoot.

The are some obvious glitches with the game. For example it's easy to get stuck in the platforms. But sometimes I can see bullets from shots I fired quite a while ago. I guess it's because I didn't "see" the bullet anymore, so it just lingered there until I came by again. Maybe the bullets should have some sort of "time to live", so they automatically vanish from the game after a set amount of time.

Also, the colours of the plattforms aren't too good. The background is mostly blue, so the also blue plattforms are a bit hard to make out sometimes.

Overall, the game has it's flaws but can turn into something worthwhile if you clean it up a little.

A few things you mentioned (like the bullet thing) were because I forgot to mess with some properties of the objects. I'm just gonna fix a few minor things when I find time, then I'm done with this game since I have more important projects. Thanks for the Review!

Hmmm

One gun, and that's it? I mean, I'm not that interested into guns to begin with, but when playing a game I would expect that I can try out more guns than just one, since the experience of shooting a virtual gun is never the same as shooting a real one I would want to at least try out various guns with different shooting speeds, different sounds, etc. .

I liked the idea of giving the player different targets to shoot at, and different sound effects for each target as well, but sadly that was about the only thing I really liked about this game.
The rest - and I am just being honest here - is just some mediocre point and click game with no real purpose at all. The animation of the shooting gun doesn't even look that good since the gun stays at the bottom of the screen no matter where I aim (I would at least expect the gun to change it's angle if I aim high or low).

Overall the idea is somewhat original. At least I never played a shooting range simulation before. But it would really be nice if I could try out a few more guns and if the gun would be a bit better animated.

Not too much replay value

Okay, now that I've beaten the other guido the game doesn't seem to offer that much replay value. I mean, the game is fun to play. The graphics are nice and the controls work fine. But the setup only works for one or two games before I get bored of it.

Also, the block button doesn't seem to work after the cutscenes, I always got punched once before I could block again.

Also, what the hell is Jersey Shore? ^^

YoinK responds:

according to your medals earned... you didn't even perform a super punch. Hold your mouse button and release for super punch abilities. There's replay value if you haven't earned all the medals. Jersey Shore is a reality show on MTV.

Good game

The gameplay is a bit slow, I think. Hank and Sanford move a bit slow. But I liked the idea of being able to switch between the characters, that was a cool idea. Would've been even cooler if the "inactive" character would help me in battle, though and not just stand around watching how I get beaten up, heh.

The graphics are pretty good. I like the backgrounds a lot, you put a good amount of details in there.

The musical choice is very fitting for a madness themed submission, so good work here.

Overall, the game is fun to play, but the characters could move a bit faster.

Wow, this is actually very addictive. I like how the aim is so slow at the beginning of the game, makes it really interesting. Even though I took the easy way out and maxed accuracy before spending points anywhere else. ^^

I like how we can upgrade our "weapon" after each level, this makes the game far more interesting as if our weapon would stay the same all the time.
I also like the various achievements here, like the combo medal, etc. .

Later on the game gets quite hard, with all the different clocks coming up on the screen. I shot more than one bomb clock by accident.
I guess I'll try to beat the game later. I want to see the ending!
