Good song

The intro of this song reminds me of some old german science fiction series (Commander Perkins), heh.
The song is pretty nice. It sounds very deep and dirty and yet the vocals and the higher pitched melodies make it somewhat relaxing as well. Very interesting mix.

I also like the progression of the song. It starts off pretty much "leight weight" and then slowy becomes more heavier towards the end. This makes the song very interesting to listen to and the listener won't get bored halfway through the song. Nice work!

I was going for a more relaxed feel to this since that's just what I do, I guess. Lol. I paid a lot of attention to progression in this track and made sure to mix in elements between parts to lend to transition. Thanks for the review, Haggard. :)

Quiet

A very quiet song, but it's very touching. I like that it is so set back. It almost feels like the melodies are afraid to hurt the listener, so they are very quiet and slow.

This could easily be used in various flashes or games. Like in a sad sequence, where a character dies or in a very thoughtful flash that wants to get the viewer to think about certain things.

I also like how this song doesn't sound too sad. Yes, it is touching, but somehow I don't feel sadness when listening to it. So I think you found just the right amount of "touching atmosphere" in this song.

You seem to have experienced the piece in the way I was hoping people would, which is always refreshing. I appreciate your review, Haggard. Thanks, RRC.

Weird, but in a good way

This is a very weird song, but it's fun to listen to it. The beginning is a bit slow, but luckily the song picks up after about 20 seconds.
I really like the background melody here. It sounds somewhat familiar, but I can't put my finger on it where I might have heard it before.

The only thing that bothers me is that the song is so damn short. Only 1:17... you should make it a lot longer! ;)

SkyeWint responds:

Oh, I'll definitely be making this longer. This is a work-in-progress, and you can be sure that I'll be putting the full version up for review.

Good cover

This is a very good cover. It's close to the original but yet it does have it's own originality, with the drums being a lot deeper than in the original.

However, I think the drums are too quiet (I'm not listening with headphones at the moment, so that may be the reason). They struggle to be heard over the main melody, but sometimes they fail and all that is left is a distant beat in the background, which is a real pity.

Anyway, the cover is still very good.

Yeah, you should definitely listen to it with headphones. I can assure you it's a different experience :)

Good song

Didn't knew the original, so I quickly looked it up on youtube. I have to say, you cover/remix is WAY better than the original. And you're right, it does have a certain "pirate feeling" to it.

I like the way how you changed almost everything from the original, except for the catchy melody, of course.

I also like how you change between slower parts and more "epical" parts, where all the instruments play at once.

Last but not least, the mixing is done pretty good in this song. Even though sometimes all the instruments play at full volume at once there's no overpowering or overamplification present in this song. Or at least as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the review man. The first time I heard the original was actually through another cover. The melody is definitely catchy, and I'm glad you enjoyed my classical version of it.

Interesting remix

Hm, this is a very interesting remix. I didn't recognize the original even though you kept the bass line mostly "intact". But without the melodies present in the first part of the song it really does sound a lot different than "Those Chosen by the Planet".

I think it's interesting how dark and eerie this song sounds in your version. I guess it's because you emphazised the bass line so much and kept the melody very much in the background. The original sounds creepy, but still somewhat mystical. Your remix sounds - as I've said above - eerie and creepy and I like that a lot.

You've done a pretty good job remixing this song. Keeping the original baseline intact and you even added the original melodies and yet you created a whole different song. Good work!

Good song

Nice song that creates some very intense images in my head.
Some "conquistadores" arrive at an yet unknown land, they are high and mighty and they want to conquer the land for their own good, not caring if other people already live there.

However, after a while the song does get a bit repetitive, but I guess that's only because it's so short and I'm listening to it the 4th time in a row now. ^^

samulis responds:

Nice imagery. :)

It is a bit repetitive... If I have some extra time I might consider making a new arrangement of this that is a bit more adventurous (no pun intended).

Good loop

A nice tune. Doesn't sound too fitting for a "samurai warrior" to me, but it's a nice tune anyways. I like the "bombastic" start of the loop, gets you straight into the action.

Then a slower part follows which gives us time to grasp the whole scene. Two opponents facing each other, getting ready for a big fight. At around 1:13 the song picks up again (this would be the time where the opponents start fighting, I think).

The loop indeed does create an image of someone people fighting each other, so you've done a good job there.

Also I like the looping. It's done in a very good way; just before the loop starts over the music picks up again, which is a very good build up ot the beginning of the loop.

:) Great, thank you very much for the review.

Nice concept

I really like this whole setup. A very nice song accompanied by a nice story to each part of the song. This seems to very rare in the audio portal and I give you originality points for that.

The stories fit very well to the songs (or the songs fit very well to the stories, heh). I like reading along while listening to a specific part. This is really a nice experience.

Last but not least, the song(s) sound very good. The mixing is very good and the melodies have a tendency of getting stuck in your head.
I also like the spacey atmosphere of this track. As I've already said, story and music go along very well together.

Good song

This is a very good try of a "Morricone dubstep". I instantly thought of some cool western movie when I heard the intro. Definitely sounds like something Morricone would've done.

I also like the progression of the song. It starts off really slow but builds up nicely until the song reaches it's climax towards then end. The outro is maybe a tad bit too slow, I think I would've liked it better if the song ended with some sort of "big bang".

Rampant responds:

Thank you! Morricone's music has very memorable themes and really makes you feel like the film will be big and epic - that's the type of sound I was trying to recreate (minus the dubstep, of course!).

The outro is a little slow, but I imagined it as being the start of the story after the main theme, like how John Williams has the main Star Wars theme that evolves into the descending 8th note pattern as the Imperial Star Destroyer enters the camera view.

Thanks for the review,
- James
