OMG It's a giant bear!

Everybody hide now!

The fur of the bear looks very real and I like the shadings you added to it. Gives a good impression of the bear, as if he's just about to step out of this picture.
Only thing I'm missing here is his mouth, it just isn't visible.

The buildings look good as well, very colourful. Must have been very difficult to paint in all those colours. Anyway, the dome of the blue/white building isn't coloured propably, on the left hand side the bear is still visible, even though the parts that are visible should be behind the building.

I didn't like the bush in the foreground. Compared to the details of the rest of the picture it is a bit lacking, looks more like a blob than a bush or tree.

Anyway, overall this is a very good picture.

Good

Lol, purple hair is so girly. :P

Seriously, though. The hairs look fine. I like that we can even see single strands of hair on his head, looks very nice.

The face however is the best part of this pic. It looks very good, I especially like the nose and the forehead (at least the part that's visible).

However, the green shading on his neck and his chin looks a bit weird, as if his clothing isn't colour-fast. ^^

Good portrait

A very good portrait, especially the hair looks very realistic. The eyes are good as well, even though Nick's left eye seems to be a bit lower than his right eye in this picture. But maybe that's because his right eye is covered with more hair.

The nose is done nicely as well, I especially like the shadow on the alar wing of the nose, gives a nice impression of three dimensionality.

However, the chin isn't done that good. It also seems to be seen from the wrong perspective (but maybe that's just me). We can see the nose from slightly below and also his eyes look down a bit, but it seems as if we can see the chin from slightly above, as if I would stand right in front of him.

Also the neck is a bit too long, almost as big has his head.

I read it all, but don't have the desire to respond to it all. I agree though.

Interesting concept

The concept of "speed painting" sounds very interesting and I like the result.

While the lines are all a bit "washed-out" it also creates a nice "underwater" effect, as if the crab is below the surface and I watch it from above the surface.

Also the pincer we can see in this picture doesn't seem to belong to the crab. At least it looks a bit weird where it comes out of the shell.

But overall the picture is very nice.

Daverom responds:

Now that you mention is the claw does look I just kinda chucked it on there for the sake of having a claw, my animal anatomy skills once again rears their ugly heads.

Good quality

Just when you think you've seen it all, someone comes along and shows you a "nazi zombie duck", heh. ^^

I like this picture, it offers a very good quality. The colours are chosen well and go along very well together, especially the ones in the background.

The peak of the duck-like creature looks a bit weird, though. I think straight lines would look better here.

Also the gleaming effect on the space marine's uniform could be a bit more subtle. It doesn't mix so well with the other colours so the bit of the picture where the gleaming is visible look a bit messed up.

Daverom responds:

Hmm the I put the glowing blue in there to draw attention to him, I didn't think about the red of the whole picture, I really need to start keeping these things in mind.
Thanks for all your reviews.

Good

This is a pretty good drawing, even though I didn't know who Ben Stein was until I looked him up (hey, I'm not from the US).

Judging by the pictures I saw of Ben Stein the caricature looks pretty good, but it doesn't look too much like him.

Anyway, I think you drrew his nose and his ears very well. The glasses look good too and I like them even though Ben's glasses aren't that good for a caricature as they aren't that weird, imo.

Anyway, a few thinner lines, especially for some wrinkles would look better and give this picture some more quality.

Daverom responds:

The fact that it doesn't look like Ben Stein (most people I'v shown didn't know who it was til I told them.) is a problem for me.

Eh

Looks very childish indeed, even without the title it's just plain obvious that it is done with crayons.

I like the "oppositeness" of this picture. On the one hand, it IS very childish, with the tree and the cube. But the missle doesn't really fit into this drawing, creating a weird feeling. Like: "Ooh, how nice, he drew a picture... wait a minute.. is that a missle there?!"

Ha, you caught it. I really was going for the juxtaposition there.

Bad photo

It's hard to really rate this drawing as the photo is very unsharp. Also the drawing seems to be very basic, only a few lines, no colours, very little details.

The dolphin itself looks good, but as I've said, there are no details present. At least some more lines to indicate the water surface would have been nice, or maybe a sun above the dolphin and the fish.

You should rotate it

Too bad the scan seems to be a bit unsharp, this gives the flower a very weird appearance... just as if the lines are not really there on the paper.
Also, why didn't you rotate the picture first before uploading it to the art portal? It's a bit uncomfortable to look at the picture right now.

Anyway, this pic should be viewed in full screen, because only there the details of the petals can be seen. I also like that you added that little bug to the picture, adds alot to the pic.

Also the yellow thing in the middle (sorry, don't know how it is called in english) looks very realistic.

So, overall the picture is quite nice, but it loses at lot of it's quality due to the fact it is only scanned and that it isn't rotated.

Good atmosphere, but the perspective is off

Well, the atmosphere of this picture is very good. It's very noir and reminds me a bit of the silent movie Metropolis.

However, sometimes the perspective is a little bit off. For example it seems as if we can see the building on the far right from an angle that is a bit more to the left than we can see the other buildings. Also, sometimes the roof is a bit higher on the back right edge.
Also it's a pity that there is a huge plain just behind the buildings. I think some trees or more buildings (some small houses maybe) would have been nice there.

Anyway, overall it's a nice picture, but there's still some room for improvement.
